I am the only wrench on my street and love to help out the neighborhood. I lend out simple stuff from time to time.Start shopping Home Depot online. I bought most of my Milwaukee stuff from Home Depot.com.
You could've a got a XC6.0Ah & a CP3.0Ah battery for $169 HERE
I'll loan out special tools that I don't expect other mechanics to have, But never basic stuff like Impacts. And if they break it....They bought it unless there's a no hassle warranty.
Rarely do others care about your stuff like you do....Food for thought.
https://www.arlabs.com/eprom_plus.html More and more as control modules become obsolete we need to repair a module or install a used module where the OE never intended which can involve modifying VIN numbers and other identifiers. This tool works well to allow me to do some of that. Its my third tool for EEprom and MCU work and I will probably buy at least 2 more
IO Terminal would be a far far easier tool to use to clone GM modules. IO terminal is particularly useful when you have a global A module that has an environment identifier in it you can clone the original module to a used module and the car doesnt know the difference. AR32 or VVDI prog could probably do it but you would have to open the module up and access the eeprom and MCU and possibly flash memory. IO terminal you could do it on the bench with something like a godiag GT100 to connect the tool to the module or while the module is still in the vehicle.Thanks....Cloning GM PCM/TCM/ECM's via HP-Tuners get's expensive! Wonder if I have pre-tuned PCM....I can then Clone it?
I understand that lol. I just love tools in general. Some would say I love tools more than carsWhenever I think I have a problem I'll just use AutoMechanic as my benchmark....I have no problem not buying hand tools at AutoZone or Home Depot![]()
Earlier I posted about my BP harmonic balancer puller from local pawn. I got to looking at the new equivalent-ish kit from the SnapOn website and noticed they now include a "push rod tip" that wasn't listed as a part in my kit.
It's the HDP1800-4 so I ordered just to see. Appears to fit my push rods perfectly. Will I ever need it? Eh, probably not but I like tools.....View attachment 88253View attachment 88254
How are you with changing spark plugs in Subarus? As you know, some Subaru models have very little space between the body structure and the cylinder heads..... A 10mm ratcheting wrench is a life saver especially when replacing Subaru batteries.![]()
I learned a trick from a tech I put the socket down and get it in the cylinder then I push it on the plug with the extension and put the ratchet on. Sometimes I’ve had to use a universal joint on the end to help too. Glad I don’t have to do plugs in them everyday that’s for sure. I’m sure there are other ways to do it too but that’s what works for me. Usually for the driver side I take out the battery. It is so much easier to get that front one without the battery being there. How are you with changing spark plugs in Subarus?
