New tool thread

I agree, the comfort grips are OK, certainly not a deal breaker for me. If I'm wrenching so hard that it's bothering my hand, I'll wear a glove. I have some nice mechanic gloves that act like comfort grips for me. Having said that I don't make a living turning wrenches, so if a job takes a little longer because I have to put a glove on or take one off it doesn't impact my bottom line any.
Comfort grips were not common for many years (decades actually) since I started, the Snap on ratchets were always the most comfortable ratchet handles. My hands don't care too much what handle it is anymore, my favorite is the light knurling like on the Williams S52, to me that is super comfortable.

6mm Allen socket need for the beetle. Rural King is closing out all of their Dewalt hand tools. They had many more but this was all I needed because the others I needed were already sold out. Made in Taiwan. I’m curious as to what will be taking their place at Rural King my guess is Milwaukee hand tools since they had a bunch of Milwaukee already on the shelf that they didn’t have last time and had boxes of the Milwaukee stuff sitting around. I do hope they keep the individual sockets and bits though.

I had this bookmarked for a while and Amazon briefly had it for a low price, which didn't last very long. I managed to grab it at what I thought was a good price. I got it last night and it looks like a well made useful tool.

Found some decent prices locally at Rural King and Lowes today on some things I have been looking for and some things I was not looking for lol..

Dewalt 20V Grease gun $189.99. Sale started today. I was the first one in the door at 7, they only had 2 in stock, I got one and the guy behind me grabbed the other one.

Stumbled on this metric wrench set, Kobalt made in India?
Didn't need them, already have Easco and US made Craftsman(easco) covering these sizes, but for $29.99 couldn't pass them up.

Got an 18mm impact socket from Kobalt. There was 50 cents difference in the Kobalt Taiwan vs Craftsman Taiwan but I wanted Kobalt though the Craftsman didn’t look bad. I got this to do the tone ring on the Escape I didn’t have an 18mm shallow impact in 1/2 because I’ve never needed one and my set skipped it until now this is for the strut to knuckle bolts. I have a deep Craftsman one but I don’t think a deep will fit. And this one didn’t have the annoying plastic hanger that I always hurt myself trying to take off like the Craftsman had. 🙂

Got an extendable 1/2" ratchet today.

Similar design to my 44T ratchet except a smaller head and 72 teeth. Opened it up and sure enough like my other chinese ratchets no grease inside. the telescope has 8 indents and locks with a bearing. Greased all moving parts with silicone grease, mostly to keep contaminations and especially water to get inside.

Strange choice of socket sizes, no 14mm and have never used a 23mm in my life...

23 is used on Mazda all the time.

We haven't had a mazda dealer near here for decades, they're rare indeed. Strut to knuckle bolts/nuts?

Anyway, useful tool for 16 euro imo
Diff plugs, the pin for the suspension on those older trucks like mine too can’t remember what in the world it’s called though but they use them. And they use 14mm a lot too. Had to go out and buy a 23mm wrench just to work on my truck lol.

btw, mitsubishis made in europe (the netherlands) use the regular 10-13-17mm hex head sizes... except on the engines which do use 12mm
That’s cool. I don’t use the hex very much but I have them for when I need them. I’ve got 6,7,8,9,10,17 for metric I need to get the other sizes and I have about every size SAE.

4.5 inch pair of Crescent brand Channellocks. I was looking for the actual Channellock ones but nobody had the small pair like that I checked Home Depot and Lowe’s and these came from Home Depot. I got these to try to remove that tab in the confined space on the escape to get the front valve cover off the back was supposed to be hardest but the front is for me lol.

Something I’ve wanted for a long time and finally got it. 🙂. I paid for it and my dad bought me the two year warranty that covers everything even accidental damage for an extra $20. Boy am I excited to use this. Now I don’t have to borrow one each time. Couldn’t use my Inside Track Club member coupon because it was already knocked down on price from $129.99 to $89.99 ITC price. So I used my coupon on Super Lube for my old toolbox and ratchets.

But you won't be allowed to use this on a car owned by "that Craftsman guy" ! :)
