New tool thread

According to one of the links Eric provided on his vid, this DS630 is what he uses.
This is the same one I bought. $135 off Amazon. It’s working well.

Depstech seems to be reputable, but their marketing is deliberately confusing. It’s fairly obvious they intentionally post, then hide, then repost different units here and there. Sometimes you can find information, sometimes you can’t. As you were saying, model numbers don’t mean much, and they’ll add meaningless letters before and after the numbers to cause obfuscation. I’m satisfied with the purchase for sure, but these guys are running a shell game.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees that. Again, their products seem to work fine but the marketing and online product info is.....myopic. You just can't easily compare models to see if that extra $30 is actually gaining you something.

I had mine on a cart kinda near my welding bench and discovered the screen does NOT take kindly to grinder sparks. My fault, but it seemed extra sensitive. Fortunately you can't see the blemishes when the screen is on, but lesson learned!!

These are new to me. Showed up in the mail on Monday. I don’t know who sent them it was someone over on GarageJournal because they used my username from over there on the package. I was like dang this is one heck of a gift right here. My birthday is coming up this month so not sure if it’s for that or just because they wanted to send it but I sure do appreciate it. I do use 3/4 drive occasionally on dad’s tractor trailer. The ratchet is dated 1951 and the T Handle is dated what appears to be 1959. And I love old Snap-on stuff it’s just so cool.

That is pretty sweet and a great gift. I really should get some 3/4" sockets and a ratchet since we have a couple of tractors on the farm that would take the bigger tools.

I bought this Old Forge 2515 wheel bearing puller/press for $60. Best I can tell, these are basically obsolete these days and whatever they do can likely be accomplished by other tools.

Still, for $60 I couldn't say no. If it saves my bacon one time it will have paid for itself, and I could certainly see me turning custom spacers or press plates for it on oddball applications.

Here's a video that'll take you back to the days of Stranger Things:

I wonder if our Spring Chicken members like @Trav have ever used this?

That is pretty neat. It looks to be along the same lines as the OTC Hub Grappler.

Sprung (sprang?) for a second 3 ton, low profile Pittsburgh floor jack from Horror Fright. It was/is on sale for $98, regular price $170.
Good move. I have 3T and 4T Big Red’s - think that’s what the jacks weigh - not the rating 😵‍💫 - I do have smaller aluminum jacks - but not going to trust them the same …

I have never used one but have seen them, high quality tool. I have the Hub Grappler which is similar.

Somewhere along the way recently I decided I wanted a 21mm flex head stubby ratcheting wrench.

I wasn't able to find anything so I ordered up the least expensive flex I could find -- about $14 ‐‐ and sectioned it myself. It's kind of more of a stubby mid-length I think, but that's cool.

I also came upon this 21mm ratcheting line wrench and didn't have one in 21mm. It was a Warehouse Deal for cheap. Seems brand new. Will I ever need a 21mm line wrench?? Well, that's irrelevant ;)

Exciting stuff...stumbled on this magnetic refrigerant chart. Now I can stop looking at one on my phone every time:

When I recently swapped a 10L80 cooler the fittings appeared to be 20mm, which I thought was kinda random. We got by fine with a shallow but I didn't like not having a deep in case a fitting might have longer threads or be a different overall design, so I ordered a deep.

@clinebarger, does 20mm sound right or was I delusional? 19 (3/4) was definitely too small and 21 (13/16) was sloppy....?
