Snap On ATECH3FR300B. I was originally going to wait until they update the hardware, but I reached out to a local snap on dealer and he happened to have one on the truck. He made me an irresistible deal if I paid cash and the rest is history.

Snap On ATECH2FR125B. I ordered this one directly from the Snap On website since no one local had a one in-stock. This tool is fantastic. I absolutely love the LED indicators. Wish I switched sooner.

My Makita XWT14Z arrived today. Trav's been a bad influence on me and I've been waiting for the right time to get into the 18v line. Makita's running promo where they give you this for free if you buy a 2x 4.0 Amp-hr battery & charger kit. About $200 for everything delivered. Here it is next to it's little brother, the WT05Z (3/8" impact wrench on the 12v system) which I've had for a while.

Need a set of bits for it now. Aside from the questionable origins, this set looks like a great starter. 10-24mm with none missing, some extensions, and a universal. Not sure how beneficial or detrimental it is that they're all deep types. Use will almost entirely be automotive work. The price is right. Go for it?

I am skeptical of off-brand sockets, especially for impact use. I would consider Tekton, at the minimum, or step up to Grey Pneumatic if budget allows. Both brands are priced well. I use the Tekton impact sockets several times a week and have had no issues over the last 1.5 years.

A few metric sizes (14mm and smaller) of Koken Z-line sockets in 1/4" drive, in semi-deep and standard. On the far right, for comparison, is a standard 1/4 drive 8mm Snap-on socket I bought 30 years ago.

Bought an Autel MP808. It's more than I reasonably needed, but it's so freaking cool and I'm already dreaming up all the ways I can use this to justify the cost. I've already loaded up the Factory Service Manuals for both cars onto this thing, so I can have them pulled up while diagnosing. It blows my worn out Bluedriver out of the water.

I've already got a 3/8" drive set of Tekton's from 7-19mm, so I picked up Tekton's 1/2" accessory set which includes some extensions, a swivel, and a 1/2-3/8 adapter, along with a 20mm, 21-22mm flippable, and a 23mm. That all totaled $60 and I won't have a bunch of redundant items. I figure that'll cover most or all of what I need wrenching our Hondas.

New warranty replacement Craftsman tools. They replaced the 11/16 with an 11/16 deep because their response when they asked if that would be ok is “Hello Blake, regarding the 11/16 shallow socket part number 43006, we no longer keep that model in open stock except at Lowe’s and Ace stores since it’s not a very common size. Would you accept an 11/16 deep or 13/16 deep?” (Obviously they have never worked on old domestic cars) I asked how long it would be before I could get an exact replacement and they said weeks to months. I said ok I’ll accept a deep just so I can get everything now. And I have several 11/16 floating around I pick a new one up each time I go to the pawn shop. I didn’t tell them that part of course. And the screwdriver they replaced with that model because they said they were having a hard time getting Acetate to make the other handles with I told them that was fine on that since I’ve been wanting to try this particular handle out anyway and it’s more expensive by about $3-$4 so yeah it’s good for me. I’m happy and I get to add the broken ones to the box of broken dead tools lol. Also forgot to add these are all Taiwan made tools for the replacement. Someone on Facebook posted about them seeing new USA stuff at Lowe’s but I haven’t been by to check yet so I have no idea if it’s true or if they just edited a picture to say USA and look like the new models.

Bought these for work.

I’ve never really used Klein until now minus what little I inherited from my grandfather. He had a lot for his job when he was about my age.

Decent prices. Screwdrivers are very comfortable. Pliers are built like tanks. Good no questions asked warranty (minus obvious abuse) from 2 semi-local stores.

Warranty replacement Stanley socket. 10mm deep 1/4 drive. The other one came with no detents in the bottom and has been hard to use since it falls off every ratchet and handle. So I reached out to them asking if they would replace it and they said yes. It’s weird they sent a black chrome one but that’s cool I’ll take it. I already looked and it has detents so that’s good.

Many of my older (30 years and older) 1/4" drive Snap-on sockets are missing the detent wells or have very shallow wells. Same for the older Craftsman 1/4 sockets.
