New tool thread

I have always been curious about these. Finally found a set for a great price.

They’re interesting. They definitely fit tighter than your average socket. But on some fasteners, they will not fit at all. 🤔

I’ve been meaning to pick up a funnel like this for 2.5 years(since the first oil change I’ve done on my Ford 7.3L gas truck).

It’s the small things…
I don’t really understand the reason for that funnel - what’s the point?

I understand and appreciate the big ones for coolant, with all the adaptors. So thst you can really overfill and burp the system…

Ive never had an issue with oil funnels just sitting plainly with gravity in the fill hole. What am I missing?

Those funnels are da bomb for accessing angled or otherwise obscured fill ports! They seal to the opening so you don't have to worry about overflows, and they stay upright so you can use two hands to hold a 5qt jug. I use one of these on my Odyssey which has an angled port that is partially hidden by the radiator support.

It would be too big for the obscured fill hole in our odyssey. I need to wedge a small funnel in there.

Try pouring oil into a Ford 6.2 and get back with me.

And looks like a mess to clean up to dry. I appreciate the photo though!
What? Dry a funnel? I haven't tried that!
Seriously though, I just wipe out the top part with a rag and then stick the whole thing in my funnel bucket (tall 6 gal bucket with lid). So far it has not accumulated any dirt, but the funnel can be separated from the neck for cleaning, if one so desires.

Edit: mine doesn't have its own lid but I like the one that JWC86 posted. But if it won't fit my Odyssey it would not be useful in my garage!

I dry everything. Even if closed away it will accumulate dust and possibly grit.

My funnels get a shot of brake clean to flush them before each use. Oil or coolant.
x1000. Flush w brake clean and blow out with shop air. Good enough unless a quick visual reveals particulates visible to the eye

Lately I've been buying the SQ non-chlor by the case from Amazon, but preferences in brake cleaner are like preferences in women.

Same, but I do it after each use, dry and put away.

I also have an Odyssey and use the large funnel from the $2 orange Harbor Freight multi-pack. Need to squeeze it just a bit to get past the radiator support.
