New tool thread

Bought a Knipex angled-head 200mm compact bolt cutter at Amazon Global Store for a grand total of $63.44. The 3 pivot joints have no discernible play or wobble, yet operate easily and smoothly. Definitely a precision fit. I tested it on a nail in my old wood fence, and it cuts about 1.5mm shy of being flush.

Since I now have a small selection of SnapOn swivel sockets in 3/8 drive I felt the need to get something more compact than my aging 2754.

The 2854-21 kit is on clearance at at least some HD's for $125.00. Comes with a 3.0 compact battery and slow charger (and tool bag).

Shown here 2754 (with boot) and new 2854. I know air is king for compact size but air hoses and I are like oil and water. I mostly use air for tire inflation and the plasma -- that's just me.

So the bag that this was delivered in today was sliced open and the 10mm socket in it went to be with all the other lost 10mm sockets. I needed a 10mm because the Mishimoto clamps use that instead of 11mm like Ford uses. It's cheap and they already re-ordered one for me. I just had to laugh at the irony. I will probably hit up the SnapOn truck Friday to get a nice one for the toolbox and leave this one in the glovebox.

I just did rear drums on a '17 Taco and realized there are still tools I don't own -- specifically for the horseshoe clips.

So for opening them I got the Matco BRR1 and for closing the Mac BRP2 -- I kinda think one or both is just Lisle?

They were ebay obviously. The rust on the Mac was clearly disclosed in the auction but I was feeling cheap and they were ~$12. The joint is super smooth and the teeth are in great shape so any imperfections are strictly cosmetic. I may soak them a short time in vinegar or just try to buff with a woven abrasive.

Far right are Chicom fuel line disco pliers. They seem about as cheap as they look. I need to curb my ebay impulse purchasing on junk like that, but they might be useful just the same

I was slow to adopt battery powered tools, Now I wouldn't know what to do without them. I think the only air tools I have left in my box is couple Air Hammers (No replacement) & a Right Angle Drill that I don't use enough to warrant buying a battery one.

Haha... I bought the Milwaukee 12v 90 degree drill mostly to power up my piston ring filer. Seems perfect for the job. Haven't tried it yet.
