Matco and Snap-on Thursday. From Matco a DBS5 dead blow hammer. And a 1/4 drive locking flex head ratchet. I don’t have a 1/4 locking flex as I sold mine on eBay not too long ago that didn’t have the comfort grip handle. Also got some socks which will be part of moms Christmas present as she really likes the pairs I got her last week.

From Snap-on no tools today just a “free” heated jacket which you only get if you carry a $500+ balance with the truck account for Christmas. I do carry that but it’s going down. I was glad I told myself not to buy anything.

Bought a pair of 3-ton (rated per pair) jack stands recently at Harbor Freight, for $100 + tax. My only criticism of them is that the fit of the center post in the center tube is looser than I prefer, with a difference of about 1.5mm between the OD of the post and the ID of the tube. But the resulting unloaded wobble in the center post is still a lot less than the wobble on my 35 year old made-in-the-USA "Drednaut" ratcheting stands. I recognize that center post wobble can be beneficial if you are using the jack stands on a non flat surface. I wonder if the ASME-PASE standards specify how much wobble is OK?

I bet you will love those stands.

Some of you may have seen in the random photo thread that I received a Christmas package from a member of The Garage Journal. He asked me not to open it until Christmas. Well as I write this here in Virginia it’s officially Christmas Day and my smile just got bigger. I got some really nice stuff. Two socket sets from Thorsen which is a brand I collect and they appear to be new. One metric and one SAE the deeps are SAE the metric are shallow that also has the ratchet and extension with it. Someone definitely watches my posts closely haha. I love Thorsen probably my third favorite brand. Then some nice Vermont American drill bits which will be of great use. Then a lightly used Tekton 8oz ball peen hammer with a fiberglass handle it will fit my ball peen collection really nicely. A brand new pair of Channellock 528 8 inch slip joint pliers which I have been wanting a good set for the house to work on the cars here with. Now I have it. A nice big Proto flat head screwdriver too and what makes it cool is it’s made in England. A nice set of Pittsburgh vise grips. A few miscellaneous screwdrivers one Stanley three Pratt and Reed USA. And a new wire wheel for my grinder at home. And a card at the bottom. This just makes me so happy and makes me feel like I have really done something good for someone this year and thencthey done something good for me. And he didn’t have to send me this gift because I didn’t participate in the secret Santa cause I really don’t have the extra money too right now. So when he messaged me for my address and said it was a surprise I was excited and had no idea it would be all of this I was thinking something small or something. Little things like this just make me really happy especially around this time of year. So far Christmas is absolutely perfect I’ve gotten two things that I really wanted so far which one (pictured in background) is another homemade quilt from grandma, and tools. Have a Merry Christmas everyone I can’t wait to see what some members here may get. I may have more to post later in the morning when my sister and her family arrive with her kids. And I can’t wait to see all the smiles on their faces too.

Remember always do something good for someone and someone will do something good for you. That’s one of my favorite things to say and remember. Especially important to me anytime but especially around this time of year. And this person will definitely be acknowledged and always remembered by me I’ll probably send them a thank you card and maybe a little something with it.
