Just picked up a '07 Accord with about 40k miles on it. Cap says to use 5w-20 oil, which I kind of figured from the start. I'm looking to run a synthetic b/c I plan on keeping the car long term and bought it used... so a bit of a insurance policy. Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum? any real difference? Also, do they make a 0w-20 that I could run??? Or is that to thin. Location is central FL; aka HOT AS Heck.
New to Honda, advice?

Use a synthetic only if you're going to get your money's worth out of it.
How many miles a year? How long are you willing to leave it in service?
If a synthetic makes sense, then the choice of 0w-20 or 5w-20 should also be made based on price, imo.
Don't read too much into higher ambient temps.

that's how I normally think of oil. I'll be keeping the oil in service based on the Oil Life Mnitor % the car has. My friend has a similar Honda and he said at 10k he still had like 30 somin % left! So I guess the correct answer is 10K or oil light, which ever comes first. I drive about 15k/yr. It's a 5spd, and I drive a tad aggressive.

My opinion (based on no scientific evidence whatsoever) is 5-20 syn and follow OLM...
If the price is the same, I would choose 0W20 over 5W20 anytime.
If you're going with a 20wt, might as well do a 0w-20 though you're not going to see a benefit in Florida. You can also run a quality 30wt in such a hot climate as I have done in my glorified Accord since new. Of course if you have the money to spend, Redline all the way.
