Hello,
I will be taking over maintenance on a 2023 Toyota Cross L W/43K, Not hybrid.
My daughters friends free oil changes ran out and she's way over due from my understanding.
From what I have researched it may call for 0w 16 oil not a fan of that weight.
Thinking 0w20 Pennzoil ultra platinum or Mobil 1 extended performance and a toyota or Bosch filter.
I do 5-7k changes but feel it won't happen with her and a 20k oil will give a cushion for time if it goes 7-10k. I don't believe in 10k changes but she will drive till her car says oil change due.
Dont even want to think about the CVT transmission yet.
By the way this car is used in central Florida, never gets cold but does get hot
What oil do you cross owners run ?

I would do Valvoline Restore and Protect 0W20 + Supertech 4967.
The Valvoline Restore and Protect is not the right choice for Extended drain intervals, maybe 5000 miles or 6 months, whatever comes first. I would maybe use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W-30 or Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30. The Valvoline Restore and Protect would be great, but @tblt44 said she basically runs it to death with no concern of oil change milage or time. The Restore and Protect is not designed for the extended drain intervals and will break down.

Ya she's like way over due now.
Can't even get an answer how long over due. That's the only reason I want a 20k oil
Just want to help her out she has no money. I will be doing it free of charge for her, piece of mind getting a 20k oil for a few bucks extra

Those mileage claims are under specific conditions. I would not put much stock in it.

If she isn't too concerned with it then I wouldn’t be either. Pick a top offer from a name brand, grab a filter, and change the oil. Everything else is out of your hands.

I would go to walmart a pick up some Quaker state ultimate protection in 5w-30 in FL and a OEM Toyota filter also sold at walmart if it was me. The Quaker state ultimate protection is only $23.98 a 5 qt jug at my walmart. I hope she is checking the oil. Given the long drain intervals. The 5w-30 would be better in long drain intervals in FL.

AMSOIL Signature Series it will give you the peace of mind needed 😁. These women just be driving not keeping track of nothing unfortunately

AMSOIL Signature Series in the 0w-30 would be a better oil .
Since the the vehicle is not owned by the the starter of this thread I was thinking the $28 mobil esp would be sufficient, now by all means if they want to spend the money on Amsoil for someone else's vehicle go for it.

No Amsoil, something available off the walmart shelf. I just picked up a toyota filter at Walmart but they were out of Quaker State ultimate protection so I left with no oil. I still have 1 week to decide on oil. Wanted the Quaker State but all my local Walmart are out. They have the regular syn not the ultimate protection

If they don't keep the Pennzoil Ultra in stock at your local Walmart, you could go with the top Castrol Edge Extended Performance (gold bottle) choice or the Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30. Both of these are usually on the Walmart shelves. I like the Pennzoil Ultra because of the "Pure Plus" GTL base stock they use. All three of these can handle the abuse of longer drain intervals most try to avoid. The 0W-30 Mobil ESP oils usually are formulated differently than the 5W-30, 0W-30 having more Group 4 PAO. Anyhow, I will put a couple links here to check out.

Valvoline Restore and Protect and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum are pretty much the only non-boutique oils that differentiate themselves from any other off-the-shelf product.

Nearly all else can collapse down to “basically the same” with some better able to last a bit longer than others.

I went with Mobil 1 0w16 and a toyota filter since it's still under power terrain warrenty. I have to say the oil that came out looked great, 10k miles with what ever toyota dealer put in last.
I expected it to come out like water but really not any different then 0w20 by eye.
I assume they used toyota or maybe mobil 1 oil at the dealer.
Also had to plug a tire that a tire shop wanted to replace because a screw was 1 inch from the edge of the tread.
Saved her $225 bucks.
Yes it was close to the edge but I have plugged many that close with no problems later.
