I have never owned a vehicle that wore tires that fast and have purchased ultra high performance tires with low UTOG (160 and even 140).

The Michelin Latitude Tour on my MDX are are wearing very slowly, they better as they are pretty expensive $300/tire installed but fortunately prior owner did that before sale to me. 12k of wear by me and wearing on target to last 40k+.

I live in a rural area, not much city here. The closest town to me has 1 red light. lol
I talked to a guy I know that owns a tire place in another town not too far from me and he said that the 3rd gen CR-V has been terrible on tires. He said everyone he has done has burned through them in 30-35,000 miles at the most. He said the old gens were good but the 3rd is just horrible on them. he doesn't know why. There are a lot of CR-V's in my area, so whenever I see the driver I ask them and they tell me the same thing. Ranges from 12,000- 30,000 miles and they have to replace them.
Wonder what is up with this gen CR-V??

Have you had an alignment? I know my co-worker's 08 CRV has a set of rear camber arms installed by the previous owner....hmm.

Yes, I have had it aligned.

I haven't seen anything particular to the 3rd generation CR-V that would cause it to wear tires prematurely. It's a very simple suspension design not unlike many other vehicles (MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link in the rear). Camber and toe can be adjusted up front (though camber requires a kit) and camber and toe can be adjusted in the rear (again, camber requires a kit).

So far, the Latitude Tours on mine are on track for an honest 50k miles. As long as they wear evenly, I should make that mileage. OEM tires will burn quite quickly. I bought my CR-V with 46k miles on it, and it was most of the way through what I am guessing was its second set of tires. But both sets of tires were OEM tires (the second set was Michelin Cross Terrains OEM on the Ford Escape).

Do you have a printed sheet from the last time it was aligned. In my opinion, a vehicle can be aligned "correctly" and still have a lousy alignment.

the Latitude is intended for SUV's.

the Defender is made to replace the HydroEdge..... supposedly they made several improvements to it with better all-season traction, better cornering & lower rolling resistance.

If you see snow in the winter... I advise getting snow tires. Maximize the traction to maximize the rather [censored] real-time 4wd system...and not overheat the transmission.

This is true, but usually it is more to do with the fact that SUV sizes are only available in the Latitude line and not the passenger lines.

For lighter vehicles such as the CRV, I'm not sure that it makes much of a difference if any at all. CapriRacer discussed this in the other thread.

For certain manufacturers, it's more than just name change and size, compared to the regular car counterpart, the SUV version would have a little more sidewall reinforcement, inc case someone goes off roading

Found a great price here.

Does that "TR" mean truck? Or what is that there for?

That's a good point, and something to consider if the CUV goes off-roading.

That is a great price. I don't know what the TR means. I think that's an anamoly; I've never seen it anywhere else. I would disregard it. There's only one version of that tire in that size and service description (225/65R17 102T), so you would be getting the "correct" tire.

It probably means T-rated radial.

Well I ended up buying Michelin Defenders from the Discounted Wheel Warehouse. I ordered the latitude tours but they called me today and that the 102T Latitude was on back order from Michelin for 6-12 weeks. They had the 100T ones but I wanted to get 102T tires this time.
Got them for $137.20 a piece and then I think it was $98 for shipping, no tax.
Look like nice tires and reviews seem good so far from CR-V owners. The guy told me they will ship Monday. And I will probably get them put on the 20th or 21st at my Honda garage. I'll post some pics with them installed.

I'm wondering if they are discontinuing the 102T latitudes because it looks like most sites are all back ordered or unavailable. And I know I heard a rumor on the CR-V forum that they were going to be discontinued.
