UGH!!!

Why is it that so many manufacturers just don't understand that interested buyers should be encouraged and informed, rather than being treated like mushrooms? Even if you're looking at a window of ~12-18 months, many customers would wait it out for something they want. Instead, when they don't have a clue, they start looking elsewhere and their money goes with them.

I'm a perfect example. I'd wait if I had some idea what kind of time frame Subaru might be looking at, if they have intentions of backing up the talk that was bandied about when the EE was introduced. Instead, I may well just go buy another Golf TDI since I'm left without any idea what Subaru is going to do, or not, as the case may be. That would mean that Subaru could potentially lose a customer for a decade, or more. That's a bad move on their part, for no good reason.

I appreciate the answer.

I dont see the humor, smelly pants.

Draw it. A Shared center crankpin with 2 phased throws at each end requiring 4 main bearings. Engine is still in primary balance. Recall this is just two flat twos attached at the spine and splayed 180deg.

Unless I'm visualizing it wrong, what you're describing is basically an inline-four, with cylinders 1 and 4 rotated 180-degrees from their normal position. ..
You are visuialising it wrong. It is so simple it does not come to mind easily - like all elegant designs it was an Epipfany. Given the forum temperment, I think I'll keep it to myself and do a patent search first ....

I had Subaru before and liked it, except for MPH. 18-20 city, 24-26 hwy.

I get exactly that much in my V6 RAV4 with 275 HP that can seat 7 and tow 3500 lbs.
