Had my Cub Cadet XT1 46" for some time now, it was great on the old property, but since moving in to my current house in 2022 I've been fighting with it. Mechanically it was fine, but with my yard I could never get a good level cut. After adjusting the (stamped) deck nothing would work. Altered my directions, nada. On a whim I walked into the local equipment dealer and decided to go with a Scag SLS 42" cut zero turn. Yes, it is a homeowner version and has non-servicable hydros, but for my use I bet it will last a good long while. It does have the 20HP Briggs and Stratton PXi twin. Not everyone's cup of tea, but it did pretty good. It still has the fabricated deck like in the Liberty, and the rest of the machine is just as solid.
Dropped off this morning (car was in the yard as I thought they were gonna have a trailer and I wanted to give them room to move around):
Never driven a zero turn before, so I puttered around the back yard a little bit. Despite the grass being super thick and slightly wet, I went for it. I usually do the front yard first, but decided to do the back first
First goal was to not run over the septic riser, well head, or wind up in the road. Successful, and despite being a little clumpy due to being so thick, it cut really, really well!
It's going to take some practice, but I love it so far!
