Went from a 4 year old 32in 720p Vizio TV to this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-55-c...p;cp=1&lp=1

Picked it up this morning. So far I am extremely impressed.

Yesterday I had bought this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/vizio-e-seri...p;skuId=3730007

1) Way to big for the space. It looked much smaller on Best Buy's wall. 2) Not impressed with the smart apps or the picture. For $100 more, even though the Samsung is 5" is smaller, I feel I got a much better TV. And I see this same Samsung on sale for $799 all the time so I'll go back the next time I see it and get the $100 credit.

The best time to purchase TV's is the open box sales after the Super Bowl.

People buy that big screen and take them back after the game. How they can do that with a straight face is beyond me, but the price is right when they go back on sale.

Only a small percentage do that, store knew that and they rather sell 1000 and take back 20-30 than sell only 400-500. The 20-30 they take back may have discount of 20-30% they still ahead with almost 1000 sold.

I hope they fixed the excrement capacitor problem they're notorious for - https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=samsung+tv+won%27t+turn+on

Google - "samsung tv won't turn on"

If 60 was too big 75 would've taken up my whole living room!

The $99 5 year warranty though is incredible. They wanted $200 for the same thing on a much less expensive TV!

My 8 years old 52" Sharp Aquos with the viewing distance only 8-9' looks big to me. When it stopped working I may up the size to 60-65" at most, 75" is just too big for viewing distance less than 10'.

One good thing about flat screen TV is it's getting better over time and also getting cheaper every year.
