The Hyosung isn't your typical small bike. The engine's spec sheet reads like a race motor: 10,000RPM power peak, 28HP from a 250 V-twin (30 in GT250 sport trim!), roller cam bearings, and an astounding 11,500RPM redline.
Funny you have a Suzuki, because Hyosung has done lots of engine development with them...and it shows, in both companies.

30hp is a bit optimistic, even reading at the crank. Most bikes rev out that high, the 1199 Panigale 2 cylinder will rev that high. Now that is impressive.

Wow 28 hp from a cruiser 250! That would leave my 250 sitting. My GZ probably makes 18hp and redlines i'm guessing around 8500.

I'm rocking a 2011 CBR 250. Around town it has all the power I need, and gets 75 mpg.

Yeah, more likely in the vicinity of 60 mpg. The fuelly stats are all over the place... probably user error...

My Virago 250 got about 70mpg from the factory. By altering the gearing I was able to get in the mid 80's after a sprocket and chain swap. Went up one on the front and down three in the rear.

My wife's MP3 250 gets 65 to 75 mpg and that is on a 450 lbs 250.
It tops out around 80(thats more than fast enough for her).

I don't think the GV 250 is a bad bike. A mate had one briefly and reckoned it was good and comfy but struggled a bit over 100kph (60 or so mph).
Mileage will vary with 80mpg being ambitious I think. 250's actually are more frugal around town relatively speaking, at highway speeds they can be running pretty much flat out.
Nice machine at a fair price....go for it.

I've done significant work to my bike. Tw6-6 cams,headwork,more compression,big bore,a dyno tune and a propipe.
Believe it or not when my bike was stock and just pipes and a garbage V&H fuel processor I got 35mpg on the highway.
I added 40 hp and 40tq and gained 15mpg on the highway.
So my ecu is tuned to burn lean when certain parameters are met and the bike feels its at steady cruise on the highway.
Once I get into the city and start with more throttle inputs the tuning becomes richer for max power.
On the highway at steady cruise the a/f is at 18 to 1 iirc. Once in the city it changes to 12.8 to 1 for more power.
So stock Harley's might be easy on fuel however for being a big twin they've got no power.
Mines got 107hp-115tq. It's got 100tq at 2200rpm.
It's an 08 street bob. I love it.

I still gaze with admiration at the Dyna FLD Switchback on the Harley website, wouldn't mind having one. I really like the look and the quick change concept, but weirdly I mainly like it with a solo seat and the hard bags on, just something about the look and having all of the top of the rear fender exposed. Anyhow, when I was buying last year it was between the Ducati and the Switchback and having had an HD in my 1st riding life the Duc felt exhilarating and unknown whereas the Dyna felt like a safe way to step back into riding after about 10 yrs off, more of a known quantity to me at the time. I chose the Duc but it was a close call.
