What about latest Mobil1 oil filters? I remember they used to be good, and then not, are they any better than say Fram Ultra ?

Yes the new Mobil 1 filters are great. No longer made by M+H.

Purchased at Walmart for $11.44.

Definitely gives me Pentius vibes to be honest. Most likely VAFI built(made in Vietnam). Some models are made in South Korea. A little extra glue but otherwise a high quality build. Much better than the previous M+H made M1 filters. Highline Warren is handling the warranty on these.

Tomorrow I’ll cut out the media and get measurements.

Go too advance auto car quest filters,but ask or k ok up at end of filter number,thiers MP..those are ,are still the USA made ones.. get the red ones, 20 microns at 96%> the blues last I read were 99% @ 30 microns .
Walmart ...ide go with super tech then, Purolator red or ve used them cut them open 3,200 miles no problems .
Last resort for me would be fram.
Back 1995 I found cigg butt in a fram orange filter in a Woolworths,and again I dunno 2005 era in Walmart. Cardboard end caps ..but I would buy Thier synthetic filter...it's top notch.99% at 20 microns.
Thier was a member here ascw ding something...used some filters but n his garage, engineer I believe
Top performing filters that cleaned oil perfectly....fram synthetic but the original one extendedguard? His test graph cleaned virtually everything. AC Delco Gold close,the pureone very close,and royal purple tremendous....the others ye testee sucked.

Was at Walmart killing time while my girls were at gymnastics. Stocked up on penzoil ultra while I was there and wanted to stock up on filters for my truck. Saw the new Purloators and opened them up to look inside out of curiosity. I saw some debris around the gasket on several of these filters that make me question the QC… I remembered to take some pictures to show here later on, so didn’t include all of them. But pretty much this: every single one I opened to inspect had some kind of debris around the gasket.

I’m sure I could’ve cleaned this up before installing if I’d chosen to buy this filter. But it makes me cautious around anything M+ H associated, or purolator.

P.S. — the mobile 1 ep filters are made in South Korea now, I saw someone remark this in another thread but can’t find it to reply back. The quality and feel of the filter is much better than the one I have on my truck right now. But going to definitely switch over to Microgard Select for next oci in June.
