New Prius Can Be Ordered With a Catalytic Converter Shield

I would be very upset if that shield is held together with security screws which i could get the bit online or from harbor freight. I was hoping with the oem making a shield it would be very well integrated and tamper proof

I have one of those - MillerCat gives you an option of a “keyed” screw set.

I’ve installed a non-CARB compliant Chinesium cat on mine; I also reinstalled the shield to troll the thieves. If they do take it off, they will find a worthless Chinese eBay cat installed. And you would have to be very desperate or stupid to take that.

Seems to me the better "theft deterrent" design is the cat/exhaust manifold as a single unit. This puts the cat out of reach from the underside unless the hood is opened. This placement is vehicle/engine dependent and likely increases the cost of replacement but should make it more difficult to steal.

You would think a prius or any low slung sedan would have it's exhaust out of reach. If they are going to bother lifting the vehicle, they will cut away whatever is needed to get to the cat anyway.

Should come with a choice between glock 19, colt 6920, or 870p. Texas does theft prevention right.
