I don't care how "annoyed" you get, A) Don't put in on the curb, unless you wish to wish to witness the fighting begin, as to who will take it home. B) Don't sell it for cheap at a garage sale. That mower can fetch up to $500 - $600. I've seen unused versions sell for up to $1200 on eBay.

If you had A) rejetted that Duraforce carb (google it) instead of replacing it and B) turn your rpm's up to around 3300, you'd be singing the praises of that mower, like the rest of us. Tall grass in dry Houston is a piece of cake, compared to tall grass in wet Michigan.

I own two of these 6 1/2 HP Duraforce mowers. A commercial version with Orange 1 gallon gas tank and Orange steel wheels. The other one has a Easy Stride [Personal Pace] transmission. I use Mobil 1 2T synthetic 2 cycle oil @ 32:1, 87 octane and no ethanol.

Best, my Duraforce is the same commercial version as yours. I only wish it was self propelled. It's a lot heavier than my old 66 Lawn Boy. I use to run the Mobil 1 2T in mine until I ran out. Shame Mobil quit making that product. If you can't cut grass with the 6 1/2 HP Duraforce, you need a twin cylinder riding mower.

I responded to an ad by a guy who was selling a used chain saw. He showed me around his son's little repair shack in the back yard. I saw two old Lawn Boys neatly stacked sideways on a shelf. I asked the guy if they were for sale, he said that they didn't belong to his son but would let me know if the owner wanted to unload them. They looked not too bad. Decks looked real good and the engines were complete. I'll be keeping an eye on them......

Check your PM. There is a guy selling 2 of them for $400. The pictures of them look good and they both run. Reconditioned, they fetch close to $1000.

Here is my small Lawn Boy collection.

This is my 1966 model 7255 that I mow with every week during the mowing season.

Here is the model 22260 Commercial model, not sure of the exact year.

And here is my 1965 Lawn Boy edger. I use it about once a month to edge the sidewalks and driveway.

Nice looking equipment Johnny! I think that's the first LB edger I've seen. I've got an older McLane that is holding up well.

I have an old John Deere edger that was made by McLane back in 1972 and was given to me as a house warming gift. It has not run in years and has been in storage in my garage for the past 21 years. I might try to over haul it some day or just locate a 3.5hp Briggs to put on it.

I have an edger just like that. Bought it for $10 at a yard sale about 5 years ago.

Model 1014, I believe.

We're not just oil geeks here. Some of us are 2-cycle and Lawn Boy geeks also.
Amen, brother I am on Garden web's lawnmower board a d the lawn mower section of the tractor forum. Hard core lawn boy sites. I dont especially like yard work and gardening, but I love keeping my stable of freebie mowers and blowers going.
