Yawn...

Given that XOM won't tell us what's in their current lineup, why on earth would anyone bite on yet another level of pseudo-differentiation? If they revealed base stocks, additive levels, etc., I'd consider it. But we all know that will never happen; instead they'll hide behind the old "It's proprietary, we can't tell you." lie and let the marketing monkeys blow smoke up our patookas.

No thanks.

I've seen them, well Mobil super at walmart. Its basically the replacement for:

Mobil Clean 5k = Mobil Super
Mobil 1 = Mobil Super Synthetic

Mobil 1 EP = Mobil Super Duper Synthetic.

J/K on the last one. But they should really stick with their old naming scheme.

Mobil 1 Is Not Equal To Mobil Super Synthetic

The two are different products. Mobil is keeping the Mobil 1 line that has PAO in the mix, and Super Syn is probably Grp 3 based. Only time will tell after people use Super Syn and post VOA's & UOA's.

Not a fan of this trend, but this is what companies are doing. Regular M1 will remain their top of the line oil using the latest additive and base oil technology.

The flash point is considerably lower by 30- 40 degrees for 5w30 visc., the FP for 0w20, 5w20 , & 10w30 is much higher for some reason.
