New low cost iPhone 16e

i am about ready to ditch the wife's family plan on TMobile take my XR over to another carrier a mvno that backbones off att or VZ. I will check out this US mobile. thanks
US mobile office all three carriers
Verizon is called Warp
They also have AT&T by some name and T-Mobile
With Verizon warp you’re getting almost full priority data
They have a really good website that even allows you to switch on the fly carriers while you’re their customer

Red pocket is another good one, they too offer all three carriers. My wife and I had red pocket and number of years before T-Mobile deal came along. Our adult daughter still uses red pocket to this day. She pays a year ahead of time.
She used to be on our red pocket plan then graduated college then became successful in her business career and is now on the cusp of purchasing her own home. I’m only saying this to emphasize red pocket is good also.

The cool thing about both of these services above is their prices include taxes and fees

Verizon also has their visible service if I remember somebody’s post in here correct correctly Verizon invisible does not have priority data as high as US mobile on Verizon network

The coolest thing about all the above is there is no contract so if you don’t like them switch unless of course you’re doing some kind of phone deal

Do you know which one is the ATT plan on US Mobile? I haven't been able to find out.

Do you know which one is the ATT plan on US Mobile? I haven't been able to find out.
AT&T is Dark Star, Warp is Verizon and Light Speed is T-Mobile If you search those terms such as ATT Dark Star you will come up with results confirming. You can also call US MOBILE or chat.

Click on Networks below, then search those names.

https://www.usmobile.com/networks

When you do search those above names you will get results like this

BTW - IF anyone is interested in the iPhone 16e. Redpocket is giving them out for $449 with any plan as low as $20 a month.
Besides US MOBILE, RED POCKET IS A GREAT PROVIDER as well and offers all three networks/

If you are considering moving to the Dark Star (AT&T) plan on US Mobile, be aware that they are offering a discount on the Unlimited Premium plan through March 15th by applying the FULLSPEED discount code. Check it out at US MOBILE as it allows special benefits to be grandfathered for life as long as you stay on Dark Star.

Very interesting, I just noticed this on Apple’s website. The SE is retired.
I’m pretty sure my wife and I will get two new regular iPhone 16s to replace our iPhone 13’s sometime this year.

It seems like the next generation SE iPhone is being called 16 E
I just found this new iPhone 16 E I don’t know much about it, but it sounds like it might be a nice upgrade for iPhone SE owners
Price certainly seems right and I’m sure the capabilities way above average cell phone.

I just found this review two days old, sounds impressive at the price. I have to call into question some of this review. There are a number of labeling errors in the comparison of photos with the pixel 8 and the regular iPhone 16
Still it sounds like a very interesting and capable phone

If I get another iPhone it will be the 3rd Gen IPHONE SE

But how long will Apple be providing updates for it? I recently replaced my iPhone XR with a new iPhone 16, because after five years it was having problems staying connected to the charging cables and would often disconnect from Apple CarPlay while taking a corner in my cars. But I was also planning on upgrading it this year anyway because Apple is going to stop providing updates for them very soon.

Hopefully I can keep my iPhone 16 for at least five years too. I’m not one to upgrade unless I absolutely need to. Especially in this case because I had to pay full price for it (all of my previous iPhones ended up being free or something small like $50 because my cell phone provider used to offer deals like that as long as you signed up for a two year contract, which I never had a problem with since I have used the same provider since 1992!)

@Patman
^^^ Well Apple still sells the SE 3 on Apples website so you can assume it will be at least 5 years of support. (I was corrected by @DuckRyder the SE3 is not sold anymore on Apples website, the site states only at authorized resellers)

Until the stock market side tracked my thinking this morning. I was about to order an iPhone 16 for my wife and an iPhone 15plus for myself. Im torn for myself between the regular 16 and 15 plus and why I am procrastinating. My wife is set on the regular 16, I just have to make up my mind between the two and if I procrastinate any longer who knows when I will do it. Im not so found of the 15 plus colors is what bothers me.

Time is right I think, Apple upped the trade in price so I dont feel the need to sell the two iPhone 13s we have. I will just trade them into Apple for $250 each. Im bored with phones and why I am considering the LARGE 15plus ... just for the sake of having a different style phone over the regular size. I dont think it will be too large, the key here is "THINK"

@alarmguy Some android phones now also have satellite communication

The s25 will have it too.

I do not see that.
also @Patman
YOU ARE RIGHT, good catch. I got caught up in comparing the other two phones we are considering and saw this.
However when scrolling down I see only available at retailers, still safe to say it will be supported a long time I would think.

Im considering these two PLUS models below (actually wife in onto the reg 16 and she almost doesn't care about keeping her 13 as she still likes it) ... but I may procrastinate into nothing now. I was focused this morning on the 15plus and 16plus and the stock market side tracked me into nothingness.
Im torn, as the 16plus is $100 more and its really not the $100 but I think they are all too expensive and not sure if I am sold on paying for "apple intelligence" if it isnt live yet.
I dont know ... I actually even thought about the 16e just for a CHANGE and why I am thinking about the 15plus now. I dont want the same old phone which the regular sizes are to me for the past years since around the iPhone X. (10) and (11)

Oh and on the order form I was further "tricked" the phones are all $30 more than the "from" price if buying direct from apple and not associated with certain cell phone companies ... so the two phones I am thinking about are $829 and $929 ... *LOL* As a type all this stuff I am talking myself out of buying anything

So you fell off a cliff and are laying there with broken bones and going into shock….and you have to fill out a questionnaire?
its text based just like apple's currently.
if you fell off a cliff you probably broke your phone too 😂

There is a tmobile beta test for sat voice available.. for pixel 9 and s24 (iirc)

Actually, it is not the cell phone company and Starlink

It is the cell service provider, right now T-Mobile and Starlink that brings the capability to anyone who possesses cell phone capable of communicating as long as you have T-Mobile service and pay for that plan. Apple iPhones will also communicate using T-Mobile service with the 18.3 update

https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/no-apple-didnt-partner-with-spacex-to-put-starlink-on-iphones/

With that said if you have an Apple iPhone 14 or later in an emergency at no cost to you it will send out a distress single via a different satellite network (not starlink) to emergency services and give your GPS position
With the iPhone, you do not have to be with any particular cell phone company. Emergency satellite communications is built into the phone with a provider contract between Apple and the satellite network.

Just call me confused. Sometimes I don’t understand myself either. 😄

Oh wait, I found it
This is what you wrote that confused me I don’t remember seeing what you posted above, all good. I misread everything you typed and I’m still confused but you’re right.

Ok, so thanks to input from others in this thread as well as me comparing iPhone 15 and 16s for me personally this is my take.

I would be tempted for fun to try a less expensive iPhone. Really nothing to lose. $599 - $250 (trade in pice expires in April 2025) for trading in my iPhone 13 from Apple brings it to $450.

Being I like electronics it would have been fun to try an entry level Apple phone, one that has really beefed up some specs to their flagship phones. Such as the main camera, processor, longer battery life than even the more expensive iPhone 16, same type of screen, exact same camera but just one, not two of the 16 and a selfie. I mean really, I love that simplicity thought! I also like the price, meaning, if I get bored with it, I can justify selling it and getting another a year down the road.

I like well constructed more basic stuff. I find in a lot of devices that I do not use all the marketing options (fluff) anyway.
I just want great well made phone with world class camera (very important), great screen this checks all the boxes. I dont need multiple lens, not bad to have but if the main camera is world class I could care less almost.

(now the negatives for me) EXCEPT - the screen although the same will be slightly more dim in direct sunlight and will not turn down as much in complete darkness. I would question if most people would notice unless comparing side by side. But the biggest problem for me is lack of "Precision Finding" for AirTags.
My wife and I have a LOT of AirTags and the 16e will still work with them but it will only show the location. With precision finding of the main iPhones, once you get near an item it will actually point you in the direction of the air tag and tell you approx. how many feet away you are.

1. True story, its not like we use them a lot but recent trip last Nov 2024 one of our luggage did not arrive at the airport turnstile when we arrived home, fired up the iPhone and showed the missing luggage still at the tarmac of the airport we left hours before. In this case the 16e would work exactly like the other iPhones.

2. Restaurant this past weekend, we were eating dinner and my iPhone sent me a message that my wallet was no longer in range (this never happens typically) I nearly had a heart attack! So I got up and walked the parking lot, as I got close to the car the iPhone 13 zero'd in, pointed at the car and there is was in the front seat. The 16e would have shown the parking lot but not the car. Sounds like not a big deal but if I dropped the walled in the parking lot the regular iPhone 13 would have steered me to it if it was laying on the ground someplace and the 16e would only show the parking lot.

AS far as things like this It wouldnt matter to me. This is a phone, with a 6 inch screen, even if you were near a tower, you cant use the bandwidth anyway and at home? Same deal. As far as cameras, yeah, that is a bit more an issue but one must keep in mind, one really good camera is to me way better then multiple cheaper cameras.

I cold care less about the two below.

<a href="https://www.apple.com/au/airtag/#footnote-1">1</a>

SO I pretty much left with do I wait until the 2017 models come out? Im thinking no (maybe), I will let you know but I may pull the trigger on a iPhone 15plus direct from Apple simple because they make the process easy and will give me $250 for my iPhone 13. Im not sold on the iPhone 16plus for the extra $100, really a $100 is nothing but brings me to close to what I think is an insane amount of money for what I need. But the new 16 series come with "Apple Intelligence" Well remember me not liking "fluff" the Intelligence is a work in progress and not that important to me. Have Apple get back to me in 2 years when it is more complete. I actually shocked in the way they market it when its not even complete.

For those in the Android world (as well as those who hate Apple) I would look no further than the Google Pixel 8A and soon to be released 9A in the mid priced range and seems to me more complete than the 16e but I know nothing about them except FANTASTIC reviews. For Android that is all I would get, no others. Since I distrust and hate Google everything its not for me BUT if my wife and I were not fully in Apple Ecosystem it would be my go to phone if I went Android. For fun, if it was possible to integrate all my Apple stuff with google I might be tempted to try one of those too. I dont think you can go wrong with those in the Android
world. Personally Im not thrilled about the looks of the Pixel but I would get over it.

Just ordered the iPhone 15plus. Wed at 4:20pm direct from Apple, impressive, it will be here Thursday free express delivery. ( I think that is common from the stuff I ordered)
Once I get the phone they have a 2 week return period. Only requirement is it is returned in good condition.

If I keep it, which I intend to, I mail in my iPhone 13 and they credit my charge card $250.00

I didn't go for the iPhone 16plus, just a bit too pricey and it's not complete in the way they are marketing. If I wanted it, I would have waited 6 months for the 17 to come out then buy the 16.

I look at this as Chase Bank is giving me the phone for free. Less than 2 weeks ago we signed up for combination Chase Savings and Chase Checking, in 3 months Chase gives us $900 for opening the accounts so I come out ahead with left over money. I can then close the accounts. I can also then sign up with Wells Fargo for another $350 and my wife, when she wants a new iPhone (she doesnt want one yet, also has a iPhone 13) A new iPhone 16 will be paid for by those two banks.
