Not exactly. Looks like Havoline has added seal conditioners and other additives to the old ProDS formula.

My boxes are of the API SP formula. I recognize that there was an update from SN+ to SP, but it would seem odd to have another update to SP already.

I’d like to see more full synthetics that aren’t Dexos approved. There’s no reason for example, why a Toyota owner should have to pay the GM dexos royalty fee, just because their vehicle specs 0W-20 and virtually all major brand 0W-20 oils are Dexos rated.

GM recommends/requires 0W-20, not 5W-20, in some of their engines so there’s no reason for an oil producer to have their 5W-20 Dexos licensed, although some have.

Yeah I don't like pouring with the boxs either. I bought cheap plastic gallon jugs that are the same as what washer fluids come in, and pour my oil into them first.

Pretty impressive price cheap as Super Tech. I've use Havoline Pro DS and it good oil. You know some days I just get the feeling that a lot of the oil companies are all over charging us!

Maybe...I've been keeping my eye out for that. The new ProDS High Mileage version was supposed to have a distinct label that says High Mileage in red; but who knows, maybe you're right and they've just decided to call the High Mileage, "lifelong". The talk on the box of seal conditioners makes me wonder too.

My boxes of Havoline ProDS SP do not have the "lifelong" designation. Since the price is unchanged I suspect this to be a marketing revision.

The boxes that I just recently bought didn't have "LIFELONG" on the box.

I wish I could find this 6-qt. box at my local WMs.

Is their 5W-30 dexos certified? The previous 6-qt. box item was. I'm not too worried about it, as the LaCrosse is out of warranty, and I'm sure any name-brand 5W-30 synth would be fine in the Buick's engine. Just curious.

Boxes are too hard to pour from in my opinion.

we have a rack that the box fits into at my work and nice 10 quart pitchers with lids. Pretty easy I think
