Now that our boundless energy Jack Russell (mix) is 2 and well past the annoying puppy stage, we were ready for another dog. The stars aligned just right and found the one we were looking for. Last male they had. He's still adjusting to his new home, but he's getting more playful all the time.

awesome looking doberman.. how old is he?

And just like that, one became two. The gal we bought the puppy from was pregnant when we picked up the first one. She messaged us late last week asking if we wanted another, basically offering to give us one. When we went back to get the second one she was no longer pregnant, a newborn in her hands. I think she had her hands full and just wanted the last couple puppies gone.

I couldn't resist, so we picked up one of the last remaining females, the one the wife wanted initially. She was overruled by our kids which picked the boy, so now we have both.

They are approaching 14 weeks now, born in late August.

Thanks! She (the Jack Russell) has been doing great with the adjustment. Spend 30 minutes 2-3 times a day playing fetch outside and she's a very content dog. She puts them in their place when they're playing too hard (nipping at her and such), without getting aggressive. She was a tough nut to crack with training as a puppy (boundless energy and muscle), but at two years old she's an awesome dog. My only gripe is she's alert almost to a fault and lets us know every time a car pulls up either of my neighbor's driveways, which are at least a few hundred few away. Sundays are especially fun as there's a church next door. I don't mind her barking at people coming up my own driveway, so I have to remind myself that it's a very useful trait in a dog. Also can't keep her in my fenced backyard, she leaps right over our chain link fence but trained well enough now that I can let her outside front or back with only minimal supervision.

I've never owned Dobermans myself, but I was around them growing up. A couple of my uncles raised them and swore by the breed as being one of the most intelligent and obedient. I'll find out soon enough!
