Jerome Horwitz, famous for playing CURLY in "THE THREE STOOGES", was known to all as a protector of dogs. Curly's contract with Columbia Pictures included a clause that allowed his dogs to accompany him on the studio lot. Columbia limited it to no more than two dogs at a time, this due to the puppies' unplanned on-camera appearances from time to time. You can still see those surprise dog on set invasions in the first few short films. Typically surrounded by various dogs, Curly was known to come home with a stray dog and foster it until he could find it a permanent home. When the Stooges were out on the road, Curly took it upon himself to find a new home for at least one stray dog in every town they visited. Curly is estimated to have saved and rescued more than 5,000 dogs in his lifetime. This makes him a man ahead of his time, with a very admirable concern for man's best friend. Dogs are family

They were from a recent documentary the first to use sound effects. After really getting hit and slapped for two years. Curly Also limped as he accidentally shot himself in the foot.

Donations are just as good . You can pay for a certain animal to be adopted . Have done this many times throughout the years . Especially now with high costs of living . All donations help , no matter the amount of $ . Just donated $20 to local shelter .

We used to give hundreds of dollars to a locally owned shelter but they retired and the city took it over. A few years later the guy running it got busted for skimming money so we stopped. Now we'er close to retiring so all donations are going in our savings account ;)

I love Curly and the Three Stooges and had read that when the boys were out on promotional appearance tours that Curly often came home with a stray dog that he found somewhere. He was certainly a dog lover.

However i remain skeptical that he saved and rescued 5000 dogs in his lifetime. Who came up with that number ?

Shelters are getting overwhelmed since high costs of living during these days :( . Some are lowering adoption costs .
