New Ford Police Vehicles vs. Competition

Thank you!
I don't think they'll ever beat the ruggedness of the Crown Vic though. They may get the speed and handling, but those Vics used to chase pickups off road...and keep up.

I agree with river_rat...One thing is for sure the days of low maintenance for agencies is over.

We don't know that yet. Let's give the new Ford police vehicles their fair chance before declaring gloom and doom on maintenance costs.

+1 It's only fair for us to trust that the Ford engineers know what they're doing, and wait and see how the new equipment does.

It is run to make predictions though. The CV is a tough act to follow, but Ford seems to be hitting them out of the park lately. Time will tell.

I don't see the real benefit of only providing a limited comparison like this.

At least the Michigan State Police tests include *all* of the competition.

iam a chrysler man however there is no dought the Ford Police Vehicles, are great cars. i think this happened cause chrysler stoped doing fleet deals. did ford redisgn the rear end/gas tank so it doesnt blow up in a rear end crash?

It's not the enginneers I worry about. It's the MBAs they work under.

I will give them a fair chance and really hope it holds up well for them...For right now though most agencies down here are ordering Chargers but not a whole lot of them.

I do hear Leos [mostly in the City of Miami] wanting to check out and test drive the new Ford Taurus Interceptor when it hits the streets...Not sure if the agencies will buy and try them down here...I really hope they do!

I also heard the equipment that is in the CVPI will fit into the new Taurus Interceptor.

But even at that, they'll only move equipment from car to car a time or two, due to wear and tear, and officer safety.

Local PD is stocking up on current models, due to the uncertainty of the future. What was (a few years ago) a majority CV fleet is turning into a majority Impala fleet due to lower purchase price, lower emissions, and better gas mileage.
