New Fiat 500 Turbo

So far more than 5000 miles( I were out of country for a month), I have couple minor issues. One of the side skirts peeling of near rear wheel(common problem per forums, just some gap between skirt and body). Apparently Mexicans don't wash hands and do not apply alcohol before using double tape to glue skirts
smile.gif
Dealer tried to fix, but said it will probably not work. And it is worse than it was. They ordered whole new skirt for me.
Second problem TPMS sensors started going crazy. Sometimes car after start says that TPMS system unavailable for 1 wheel, then it stops flashing, and works fine after 30 sec, showing current pressure in all 4 wheels. Started to be common per forums too.
Dealer said all sensors read fine, they changed signal receiver box. Problem came back after couple of hours. Some said rising pressure in tires does the trick and improves handling even more. Will try it soon, and call dealer again anyway. I have a feeling, there was a series of faulty sensors produced, that go crazy in heat.
And the last issue that is hard to reproduce, sometimes after car sits for a while and I turn on AC-- it kicks in really hard, like someone kicked my wheel. It stopped doing it, so I thought hard rains and rusting had something to do with it, now it is back sometimes. So I will mention it to dealer again.
They are not really busy, so I can stop there nay time without appointment.
Otherwise I enjoy it, especially when I have ECU box on race mod and Sport mode on. That turbo whistle thru new intake is addictive.
Haven't track mpg for a while, I don't really need to drive and if I drive, I drive it like I stole it. So mostly all city mpg stays around 26-27.
I will continue some mods later, finishing house buying process right now. I have catless downpipe from UK waiting install, may convert to e85 later on, after couple of other minor mods, like polished TB, turbo blanket, new Forge BOV and Actuator. May lower it later little bit, not sure how low since I probably want little taller and wider tires(more comfy, more choices). That is not in my priority, and it is fairly easy diy in 2 hours, you don't need compressor for springs.

Thanks for the update; I've read about the side skirt issue, but all in all it sounds like your dealer is treating you right. I'd be using the same dealer as you, and I don't want to have to deal with poor service(I take the Mazda to Cincy for service as the two Louisville Mazda dealers refuse to hire techs with opposable thumbs).

Dealer is fine, except they are not using PU oil anymore(they still have some, they use Mach 2 oil). Nice, clean, not many people there. They are happy to buy your car, even if you don't buy from them.So far they offer more then others. Seems to be honest and do what they promised. When I traded in my MB s500 for fiat 500, we agreed on that it will cost me $280 per month.
Chrysler did not approve credit application, but 5/3 Bank did with slightly higher %. So as GM promised, I got the price we talked about, he just gave me little more for my trade in.
I actually figured out recently that they fixed tranny in my MB and some gentlemen who collects Mercedes cars (has some dating back to 1920s, bought it without even trying to go lower, since it was so nice, low miles and almost 100% original.)
Techs did not raise their voice about mods, actually one mechanic was questioning me where I got them and how I like it, since he wants to add similar or same to his Abarth.
They also have fine detailing guy, whom detailed Bimmer in my sig, and got rid of tree sap spots nicely.

Well, they haven't sold many Abarths; the one I liked back in January is still there- so maybe they will want to deal...

I was researching acceptable 1.4 turbo oils on a couple of the Dodge Dart boards; I only spent about fifteen minutes reading the threads but I still think the experience cost me at least 20 IQ points...

on most forums. Trying to educate sometimes, if I feel like it.
I think the only one oil is acceptable in US-- PU 5w-40 per papers. Maybe something new is carrying that MS certificate now, don't know. I believe Fiat Canada uses M1 0w-40, which I have in my car right now. As you can see I'm not really worried of oil related problems and warranty on engine. Next i will try PU 0w-40 and do uoa also, to compare it side to side with M1 0w-40.
I would say you will be safe with any 0/5w-40 Name brand oils( It likes to shear oil down, so maybe PUs low noak has to do something with it being only oil recommended so far). especially HDEO. I have many different ones and want to try them all to compare.
If you pull a trigger on it, I think Wally world and M1 0w-40 in 5qt jugs will be your best friends.
Filters-- Mann from amazon is little cheaper than factory filters, and look much better.

Saw an Abarth when fueling. Sharp little car.

To say the owner was proud was an understatement..

Saw Audi A8 Ls pull up, M-B S600s.. The Abarth was every bit as impressive.

And, with that guy, it looks like they sold him the car show model girl with the car

I've seen some. Unfortunately you can get Turbo and Abarth only in limited selection of colors. I would like to have that green shade or bright yellow, orange, bright green other than Rosso red I have right now.

I'll probably go with PU 5W-40- although I suspect any 5W-40 will do fine. What really got me about the Dart boards was the raft of "experts" calling for 3,000 mile OCIs and predicting that the engines would melt if you followed the recommended OCI.

I think that the 500/Abarth is a "classless" car much like the Mini and the Jeep Wrangler in that people from virtually all economic classes aspire to and can own the car.

Sure, stay with it till warranty is up. By that time you will probably see 3-5 UOAs from me with using different oils, and decide.

Yeap, and don't feel that I made a wrong choice. If I want to show up in shirt and tie I will take 550i. MB w140 made me want to wear shirt with tie, and I hate them. Most time I look like teenager,so I don't look unusual in 500T
