From Toyota to Stellantis.

I am very interested in how this turns out for you long term. My favorite type of vehicle is a manual transmission, sporty hatchback. If these turn out to be reliable hidden gems, maybe I’ll snag one in the future.
I'm extremely interested myself. As my only justification for buying it was the Jeep Renegade example I gave earlier. Otherwise I literally know nothing about this vehicle... A huge risk on my end, but for some reason my gut feeling keeps telling me that it will be alright. I hope it's right...

Tantalizing. I think several people here are on the same page.
Take notes and report back, seriously.

I mean, for Heaven's sake, with the variety of cars out there, the industry should be able to get a few of them right, right?

Any info on how many vehicles share the platform? ...or just the engine?

As we know from here and other places. Every manufacturer has their issues with certain vehicles/motors/tranny. If you know the 1.5T was good in many then with some BITOG oil love, maybe some cleanup versions after your stash is gone hopefully you are good. Yours looks clean and seems good for you so far.

FIL has a 2.4L '16 Renegade TH. He had multiple recalls, motor burned a lot of oil even after software updates. He had the extended Mopar warranty and they replaced his motor with 83k on the vehicle. It was in the shop for 9 months waiting for the motor/parts. 6 months prior to that it was there for 2 months waiting on a fuel pump. His DRL/parking lights say they are burnt out ALL the time. It's actually the connector. Jeep/Fiat at least in his runs an 1157 bulb on 12-14V for DRL and reduces it to 5V for the parking light. It doesn't even use the smaller filament, only 2 wires go to the connector. It actually melts the solder on the bulb. The socket is not available separately.

He likes the style of his Renegade, it's paid off. He said he will never buy another Stellantis product as he so tired of dealing with the service departments and crazy high priced stuff and parts availability issues. He questions the reliability all the time and last trip he rented a different vehicle over break down concerns.

One very recent thing, covered in my impact sockets thread was the the Lug Bolts with chrome caps corroding and socket not fitting. I got new one piece black ones for $55 shipped from Madness Auto Works, the chrome was $5 cheaper but his rims are black. The original replacement versions from Jeep were almost $10 each and would have the same issue in future. His windshield squirter stopped working, cracked elbow on hose, not available separate. $140 for the hose with elbow that goes pump > hood. I just eliminated the elbow as the hose goes can go direct to pump. I added a small zip tie just in case, working well so far.

First repair report.
I mentioned in original message that light bulbs are an issue. The car's dashboard kept screaming at me that "License Bulb is OUT", "Brake Light is OUT", "Left Turn Signal is OUT", etc. I purchased all necessary bulbs, thankfully the owner's manual lists all exterior/interior bulbs on one page.
Only on driver's side did bulbs have issues. Passenger side and license plate bulbs all worked, despite the car thinking they didn't. So I opened the driver's side taillight housing and found that all light bulbs are intact!
What did have an issue is the connector. It's a 6-pin connector, but obviously the 6th (ground) pin melted. Apparently a very common issue, and always only on driver's side.
Before I splurge $150 on new connector and tail light housing - I decided to try a repair with scrap. Plus many people who replaced with OEM parts still had to do it 2-4 more times. Not a lasting repair.
I took a scrap speaker wire and soldered it to the grounding plate inside the taillight housing. Then put a male pin on the non-soldered end of the wire. While original FIAT ground wire received a female pin connector. Plug them in and...
Voila!!! All works like it should now. Til next repair.

Hello--

I too have a 500x Pop model with the 1.4L engine and manual transmission that I bought new in 2017. Still seems like a new car as I don't even have 30k miles on it yet since my commute is under 3 miles, but I am suddenly having trouble determining the correct cartridge oil filter for this car. The previous few oil changes I've had weren't an issue, but now the local Take 5 and another oil change place are telling me they are unsure of which filter is the right one, and I will need to supply my own. I am seeing 68102241AA and 68630130AA suggested online; some sites say the first one, but some say the second. The Mopar site is ambivalent as it advises the latter is correct for my particular 2017 model 500x, but then it states an odd caveat that it was only used up to June of 2016.

I am finding a good deal on a quantity of the Purolator L16162 cartridge filters that appears to be the correct aftermarket number for my 500x; can anyone confirm? Pardon this remedial question. Thank you!

(As a side note, this is the best car I have ever owned. I was hesitant when I purchased it as I was being pressured to "be reasonable" and buy a Kia, but in 7 years thus far, I have only needed to replace the battery in it.)

Oil filters are definitely not everywhere for this engine. The first car for me where I can't get an oil filter from WalMart.
I'm using this CarQuest R84341 in my 1.4T. All Advance Auto Parts have it, usually at the hidden commercial desk tho, not upfront retail shelves.

Thank you, GP. I just bought three pieces of Purolator L6162--which crosses to your CarQuest number--but they arrived without the O-ring. So it goes.
