so you are saying I should also replace these routers that I bought refurbished in 2015? ( for $30/ea.)or Torrent. The server side rarely have 300mbps for one client. Even if you want to use that much speed where are you getting it from?
During the early days of pandemic I realized my webex / team / zoom calls keep dropping and then finally my workplace IT helped narrow it down to my old router, not the cable modem, being too old and would drop a lot of packet upstream past 6mbps or 20mbps downstream. After replacing the router with no modem update the speed went up a lot. It was a 10 year old N router going to a 1 year old AC one, with only 50mbps DOCSIS 3.0 4x4.

they are running DD-WRT instead of the stock firmware...
I have 2 at opposite ends of the house, the second one has the DHCP server disabled, and it's Ip is in the pool of the primary. same ssid and password on both...
it's clunky, but... it's worked for years...
