Ford does not do a special factory fill or break-in oil. They recommend not whipping on the engine for the first 500 (or maybe 1,000) miles...check your manual...but nothing about special oil or early oil changes. If you search the Ford truck forms, there are more than a few engines that are deep into the miles (300,000+) that have just been run on the Ford service interval.
Sounds like the first few years of the 5.0 had some quirks, but the new ones are generally rock solid. I personally don't like to keep my FF in for longer than 2,000 miles, but that's just my personal quirk. I have no facts and data to back that up. But all of my previous Fords seem to take about 20,000 miles to fully break in and the wear metals to calm down.
Go with what you want...oil changes are cheap and you won't hurt the motor by doing early changes.
