Dump the factory fill, use a quality synthetic, change frequently and enjoy. It's as simple as that.
Don't forget that synthetics will prevent turbo and turbo oil line coking, plus prevent piston ring sticking. There are some reports of synthetics also reducing intake valve deposits on DI engines. Frequent oil changes also significantly reduces chain wear.
2 months into it and love this car, did the first oil change with Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 and Wix filter, i live in a small town and i get compliments wherever i go, this is the only GS in town that i know of.

I've never driven a GS, but when and if I trade the CXL I definitely want a turbo. You'll find it to be a terrific car.
You know that Chevy or GM commercial where one of the women being interviewed (sitting at a table in an HOV lane!) says, "When I get in my car I want to know it's gonna get me from Point A to Point B"? No, lady. You want to smile when you get in it and grin when you're driving it. A Buick Regal, GS or not, will do that.
