Never Change Oil - Delvac Challenge

No uoa done yet. I'm skeptical how worthwhile it would be with me adding a half quart or so of oil every 5k miles with a 4 quart sump.
An oil sample taken and sent for analysis after the engine had departed to eternity would be quite valuable for everyone on the forum.

We can collect the sum needed for the oil analysis without a hustle.

I'd like to see the filter also, it would be interesting to cut it open when you finally take this car off the road if you don't plan to change it again.

Just to sum this thread up for any new folks, I last changed the oil in my Prius in early 2022 at about 233k miles. I'm now at 267,776 and things are still fine. I use full synthetic 5w40 Mobil delvac for topoffs and have also stopped changing the filters but that's a relatively new development over the past year or so.
I believe you said there was a little sludge in the filler neck and some on the fill cap. That would indicate to me that that if the filter emergency bypass isn’t already shunting unfiltered oil right back into circulation it will be doing so soon. IF that’s the case you shouldn’t be terribly far from the engine suffering some sort of catastrophic high speed comeapart.

No uoa done yet. I'm skeptical how worthwhile it would be with me adding a half quart or so of oil every 5k miles with a 4 quart sump. It doesn't burn as much now that I'm in Georgia as it did in Nebraska. It burned noticeably more oil during the Nebraska winters.
Enjoy the project. Once you have had enough, just leave it on the street with windows partially open and some empty boxes on the seats. You will likely never see it again.

Stop calling this exercise an experiment.
You can't possibly replicate it.

I honestly see the value and appeal of driving your car into the sunset anyway you want.
Seriously, getting your "money's worth" out of the replaced battery pack alone could be motivation enough.

However, all that value back in your pocket via selling it to a food delivery person could be much greater.

This kinda reminds me of those Russian guys who replaced an engine's oil with Coca-Cola.
The engine ran and died and the guys stood there and looked stupid.

I have to agree, willfully not replacing the oil filter is not something I would do. The engine itself is known to hit 300k with regular changes, so this activity has been rendered pointless with little cost savings and oil starvation is inevitable.

Whistling Diesel makes millions doing much worse than this. The OP is proving we all worry too much about oil.

I've been training for this.
