Neutra use question

I got tired of adding Neutra into every single tankful of my fuel, since I fill up sometimes 3 times a week (I try to fill up at the halfway point).

So which method do you guys think would be most effective at keeping my fuel system clean? Should I add 6oz of Neutra to my 15.5 gallon tank every 2000km (1250mi) or add a stronger 12oz dose every 4 or 5000km instead? Or even wait to use the 12oz dose once every 10,000km? (and do it just before I change the oil?)
 
I think a stronger dose every once in a while is better then a weaker one so I vote for the 12 every 5000 km or so. I keep a bottle of fuel additive in my trunk (velco strap keeps it from tipping) and I use it every tankful. Actually, I am now experimenting with 50% PI and 50% Neutra an ounce or two every tankful. But, I have been using the PI mostly for many years so no inprovement expected. Just toying around.
 
I'm leaning towards the stronger dose too. I just wonder how effective 6oz might be at cleaning things up. Although at the same time, that dose every 2000km could be the trick to keeping it from ever getting to the point where the fuel system needs a full cleaning.

I wish there was some sort of easy test to see how a fuel system is staying clean, sort of like how we can monitor our engine's health through used oil analysis. When it comes to fuel systems, most of us are just guessing until we completely disassemble our engines and look for signs of carbon buildup.
 
Anyone else have any comments? Is 6oz every 1250 miles in a 15.5 gallon tank enough to keep things clean? Or would 12oz every 3k be better? Or is that even overkill?
 
Overkill. Feel free to add what you want to your gas but I'm coming to the opinion that if you use good gas such as Chevron, change the fuel filter every so often, use a good oil that does not lead to cc build up - then you can go many many miles with no injector cleaners, UCL's, cc cleaner...Amsoil PI, et al included.

I guess if I did anything I would dose it good every 5 klicks or so...this would be for cleaning the injectors of the elusive gummy bearness.
 
I'm not as worried about the fuel injectors getting dirty as I am about the combustion chamber getting carbon in them. The reason I say this is because a lot of f-body guys I know use Seafoam on a regular basis, and find their performance increases a lot, so they are noticing these engines (both the LT1 and LS1 engines) do get carbon buildup somehow. It seems strange considering how hard most of us drive our f-bodies, as I always thought lots of full throttle driving meant very little carbon buildup.

That's why I thought maybe one 12oz bottle every 10,000km was the way to go, since I'm going to be going with 10,000km oil change intervals very soon. I know it's totally safe to run Neutra in your crankcase, but I still feel better knowing that if I ran a big dose in the fuel, and some of it got into the oil, I'd be changing the oil soon after. My engine dumps about 1% fuel into the oil in the cold winter months (over about a 4000 mile interval) so during those cold months I definitely wouldn't want to be adding anything to my fuel that I didn't want in my oil.

That's just it, the people getting carbon buildup are from all over the country, running all different oils and all different fuels. The carbon buildup probably happens faster in the LS1s, which tend to burn a lot more oil than the LT1. But the LT1 engines have also been around much longer, so there are more of them with 100-200k or more, and these guys who do the Seafoam carbon cleaning procedure seem to notice the most difference in performance after it's done.

I do know they see a ton of smoke come out the back when they're doing the treatment, however it could simply be the chemicals coming out, not actual carbon being blasted away. Many report drastic improvements in throttle response and engine smoothness when they're done. SOTP reports are so hard to go by though.

In the case of my own LT1 Firebird, it's got 90k on it, and I seriously doubt it's got any carbon buildup on it, otherwise it would not run as strong as it does in the quarter mile. It's two tenths of a second quicker than the last 95 LT1 that I had, and I had that other one from new. So this car at 90k has more power than the previous one when brand new (actually, my best time in the previous car was recorded at about 10,000 miles, so the car was fresh, but fully broken in) This one I own now runs the quarter in 13.74 seconds at 100mph, while the other ran it in 13.94 seconds at 98.8mph (and in colder weather too, so actually the one I have now has the potential to be even quicker) It's very rare for a bone stock LT1 to run 13.7s in the quarter mile, which is one of the reasons I know my engine is in perfect health.

I figure the addition of Neutra to my tank, along with Auto-rx in the oil, is responsible for my engine being in such good shape, and obviously still making full compression.

So I'd like to keep my engine in as good of a shape as it's in right now, which is why I'm trying to determine at what rate I should do the Neutra treatments. I don't want to do overkill and use up my supply too quickly. (and as mentioned, I'm getting tired of adding it to every single tankful, thus the decision to add bigger doses at less frequent intervals)
 
Considering the jacked up analysis on here from people running fuel treats for quick cleanup, I am definite believer in maintenance doses. I am commited to running 1oz/5gal of FP every tank on both cars. g/f's I add after she fills up. I even put it in my lawnmower

I swear it gives more power, unless it's the Red Line oil

. It doesn't bog much in the thick stuff anymore. Cars seem to have a bit more power as well. Better combustion efficiency confirmed through analysis.

If you must do higher dosage, time it so it is right before you change the oil.
