Looks like the filter element is too big for the can and might restrict flow.Like this 'made in china' Nissan filter that destroyed the engine in my new 2014 Versa Note. Poor thing never had a chance. Cost me thousands in a trade at the selling Nissan dealer. I think I posted this at least 10 times over the years to get the point across, LOL

As much as people on this forum (including myself) preoccupy themselves with things like filtration efficiency and bypass settings, construction quality is the single most important aspect of an oil filter. There's a lot that can go wrong with a filter: a burst can, leaky gasket, leaks from corrosion, internal obstructions, a missing bypass valve. Any of these things can cause oil starvation and kill an engine.
