My wifes 99 Nissan Altima (4cyl, 2.4L) is currently running 5W30 Mobil 1 and a pureONE filter. I still have a while before it is due for a change, but I have been looking at the possibility of changing oils. I would like to give GC a shot, but have had a hard time finding it so far. Which oil, and which weight works well with this engine? Thanks

I don't think anyone else will be able to tell you that a given weight works better than the 5w30 you are using. The GC would be worth trying..it should be available at Autozone.
Mobil 1 5w30 is a fine oil, and the PureOne is a top-notch filter, so I don't see any need for you to switch. I had an oilpan full of GC in my 93 Altima with the 2.4, and although I didn't have it long enough to tell how the oil did (Dad wrecked the car) I put probably 2000+ miles on it, and the oil still had a green tint to it and the level never dropped a bit.
I have a 95 Altima ...It seems as though everything works in that engine! I have a bypass filter hooked up ..have great reports with AMSOIL 5w40, Mobil 1 5w30 and Pennzoil 15w40 actually the pannzoil longlife 15w 40 gave me my best used oil analysis and at 6.99 for a gallon you can't beat the price!
