Ok, here it is. I have a 1998 Z28 with 60,000 miles that is only driven on the weekends. This car sees dragstrip duty about once a month as well as the occasional autocross session. The question is now that I change the oil every 3,000 miles (mobil 1 15W-50) due to sitting all week and then getting the hell drove out of it a couple of times a month, would it be be prudent to stay with the mobil 1 filters that I have been using since day one, or switch to an AC delco pf44 since I no longer go exteded intervals when changing the oil.

If I were you, first of all, I'd be going with the longer LS1 filter on there. I ran either the UPF58 or the M1-206 filters when I had my 98 Formula. The extra length allows for more oil capacity and less restriction on oil flow.

I'd recommend going with a K&N HP2006 (the longer one) or the Bosch Premium 3423. If you decide on the AC Delco, use the PF59 though. I just find the stock PF44 filters to be way too small, especially for a 5.5 quart capacity.

my bad, looked at the cross reference and did'nt take into consideration that I already use the longer m1 206 not the m1 107, I just looked up the part # for my car, my bad. I've been debating using the K&N, looks like I may have to try one. Thanks

I second the K&N also. One thing that you might want to check with both Mobil 1 and K&N's is that they seen to be prone to having metal chips in the threads. Just thought I'd mention-since this has recently been discussed.
