My employer requires an 8 digit password if I access my work email or calendar on a smartphone. As a workaround, I started synching my Outlook calendar with my Google calendar so that I can use my phone without a password. However, not all calendar items synch.

Then I tried to do it with a Hotmail calendar. I downloaded and installed Outlook Connector. But it only allows me to see my Hotmail calendar in Outlook. I have not found a way to have Outlook synch with my Hotmail (i.e. transfer my appointments from my work exchange server to my Hotmail account).

Can anyone provide a solution to this problem?

Why wont your phone remember the 8 digit password? What model smartphone are you using? does your company use Microsoft exchange?

It would be challenging to troubleshoot this without knowing your company's email server settings. Wont your IT department help you. I set up email access for lots of coworkers and I show them how to change the stored password if their passwords change often.

Yes, the company uses MS Exchange server. The security policy is a little too cautious and in order to unlock the phone, they require an 8 digit password (when you slide the unlock icon, it will prompt for the password). You can only answer the phone without the password but to make phone calls, or use any apps, you will need to unlock the phone first. This is the case both for iPhones and Android devices.

The password for the email account is remembered separately in the account setup. My issue is the phone unlock policy.

In theory, a locked phone is a good security measure but in real life it's a major pain.

I tried this about a year ago with very little success. I am not an IT person, but it just seemed my Outlook calendar (work) and Google calendar (home/family) were not compatible. It would pick up some, but not all the entries. Some repeating entries are now on my Google calendar literally forever as single entries each week or month with no way to batch delete. I unhooked the two as it was not worth the trouble, but this sure seems like a problem that would be easy to fix with today's technology.

That's exactly the issue I am having with synching with the Google Calendar. But you would think that Windows would have a tool to synch with Hotmail that works properly since these are both Microsoft products.

I am going to tongue in cheek request a smartphone issued by the company in order to have one usable phone (my personal) and one unusable phone which complies with company security policies (company issued).

The copy part is universal as described in the first 1.5 minutes of the video. Tried it but it copies my calendar to my Hotmail account in Outlook but doesn't show up when I log on to Hotmail. When doing a Send/Receive, I get an error "Unable to synchronize item".

Of course, it doesn't say why in human terms as if I am supposed to know what (0x8004A165) is supposed to be.
