GMX also supports aliases, though it may be a bit different than how Gmail does. GMX allows you to create up to 10 aliases, which I believe are unique e-mail addresses that you set up based on availability and they automatically forward to your primary address.
I set up a GMX account last night. I was able to get [email protected] (where firstname.lastname is my name) which makes for a nice, straight forward, easy-to-remember address. Their web-based client looks pretty good at a glance, but isn't something I'm likely to use much. I plan to continue to use Outlook where I'll connect via POP or IMAP (for retrieval) and SMTP (for sending).
Historically I've always used POP since I considered my computer the "master" and just wanted my mail pulled down off the server. But now, with mobile devices in the picture, I may start using IMAP and let GMX store all my mail and folders up on their servers. Up to this point I've been using POP on my computer and IMAP on my mobile devices. My computer has remained the master but I can check for new mail via my mobile devices while I'm away from my computer. That "process" works for me, but using IMAP may a) let me access everything from any device, and b) eliminate the local storage needs and utilize GMX's unlimited storage feature.
