Some engines are prone to higher consumption with synthetics. Although unless its significant I wouldn't worry too much about it,but if your happy with conventional and it curbs oil consumption by all means use conventional. Engines have gone many hundreds of thousands of miles with conventional lubes and I'm sure will go many hundreds of thousands of miles more.

Yeah I still use sythethic or blend. And usage is like 1 quart per 5,000 miles after 175k miles so I don't complain. Just pointing out a very minor downside.

Agree 100%, but I do notice quicker acceleration. And a little better fuel millage on Synthetic.

No.

+1. All M1 oils are an excellant oil.

Hi,
rrrrrroger - "Natural" oil (mineral motor oil) in its basic marketed form has a place in underdeveloped Countries due to its price and availability. This will continue for some decades IMO

China is a prime example, where there are concentrated and urgent moves to market more Grp 3 and Grp 4 lubricants as the automotive market becomes more sophisticated. This is demanded by the Vehicle Manufacturers

In most cases a mineral oil of the correct specification will deliver a suitable a and durable life span for most users (where a synthetic is not mandated of course)

Yes, we have to give him a hard time about this.

In my experience, I can't tell the difference between any "normal" brands' sound in an engine, and I think I've got pretty decent hearing. Now, I could tell the difference between a a fuel diluted 5w-30 ILSAC oil and new 15w-40 in my old F-150 when the engine was pooched, but that's a different matter altogether. Yet, I keep hearing that M1 is noisy, but I haven't personally heard M1 being noisy.
