Napa golds now 99%@23um efficiency!

Are Napa golds still USA made as well?or china?
The vast majority of Wix labeled/Napa Gold labeled spin on filters are still made in the US. There 'may be' an exception here or there, but currently that's how it stands. Otoh, the jobber/lowest tier filters like Protec and Napa ProSelect anecdotes show M&H has offshored them to China. Have one of those here I took off neighbor's Civic from an indy shop service. Just haven't gotten around to posting it yet.

Cartridge filters by all the US filter companies, have for a long time showed an off shore coo. Some in S Korea, many in China.

There's no doubt it's getting much tougher for the ALL the US filter manufacturers to compete with inexpensive/(cheap) oil filters now made in China. Why, though hardly a coo zealot, when it comes to OFs I prefer and still try to buy US made. Still readily available, and reasonably priced. Though like everything else, going up.

One thing I left out of last post about change to dome end bypass and flat compression spring. One plus could/would be an increase in element size, media area. The Wix thread end bypass piece, does take up significant space. Might take time to see that. Fyi, Wix XP and Napa Platinum with rare exception (Suby) have always used dome bypass.

Filter efficiency and flow restriction (meaning delta-p vs flow rate) are not mutually inclusive if the filter is designed correctly. Look at the delta-p vs flow test data in the tests done by Andrew. People parroted for years that the PureOne was "too restrictive" until the delta-p vs flow data was actually seen.
 
It has been 99% @ 23 microns for a few years, nothing new here. The thread title title you created states "Napa golds now 99%@20um efficiency" and then post 99% @ 23 microns. So where are they reporting anything other than 99% @ 23 microns???
So what you are saying it has the same efficiency as the lowest Fram PH cans 95%@20um..

Fram told me recently their entire Ultra line will be US made when they complete the transition to the new design.

I'm not sure that will please the folks currently using the Ultra cartridges for their 3.6L Pentastar engines, currently made in S. Korea. Folks seem very satisfied with the current XG application. Like others, it's been the Fram cartridge filters primarily that have been off shored. Fram reps also said the current black adbv on spin OF are silicone, now know here how that went.

Time will tell, I guess.

Yep, you are right. We shall see what they actually do. While I always root for the home team, I love the S. Korean made version but will be fine with the new one. What I don't want is one made in China. Hopefully they'll follow through. In the meantime, I've got a stash of 5 or 6 of them.

Thinking about it, saying they will bring all the XG Ultra cartridges to the US not a huge task. Unlike the other tiers (EG,TG) majority were/are made in the US anyway. And iirc, the 3.6L cartridge started in the US with typical XG wire backing before being off shored and using a backing very similar to Puro Boss filters. Similar to the spin on, be interesting to see how the XG cartridges hold up with nothing but blended media as a backing.

As for EG and TG, a good number of those cartridges have been made in China.
 
Ive seen USA, Mexico, Venezuela, and south korea for the spin ons.
IDK about other parts of the world, but here in the US currently the vast majority spin on application of standard Wix label/Napa Gold, Wix XP/Napa Plat, made in the US. With M&H as owner in charge certainly could change. The 5/1334 had been made in S Korea, same as M&H made Hyun/Kia OEM coo, but I recently saw one back to made in the US.

Otoh, like many manufacturers, the cartridges more likely to be offshored.
