Hello All,
Both of the cars under my care (04 LeSabre and 95 Lumina) take the NAPA 1040/Fram 3387A/Puro 10111/Pennzoil 9A.

Based on my research, if I wanted to use the longer version of this filter my choices would be : Wix/NAPA 1036 or Puro 24011.

On the Lumina, it would be much easier to change the filter if it were longer. (3.4 liter) On the Buick it doesn't seem to matter. I just want to stock one filter for both cars.

Your thoughts ?

Thanks

Only thing is watch the length hanging down, some 3.8s seem to drop straight while others have the angled adaptor.

Your engine calls for the pf47 or equivalent. The longer version is the pf52. The 3.4 engine handles the longer version easily; the 3.8 is a little tighter but fits. I also have a 3.4 and a 3.8 and used both the regular and longer versions with no problems.

You have to watch clearance on the 3800's where the filter is actually pretty close to the control arm. Hit a pretty nasty bump and you will be getting close to the filter. You risk catching something in the tire than could possibly hit the filter. Keep that in mind if your application has the filter sticking out that way. It did on my Pontiac Bonneville.
