Nachi bearings not all made in Japan?

I bought this pilot bearing a few years ago and it says Japan on it,

I ordered the same one from WorldPac today and their catalog photo shows the same,

but when I get home and open the box (yea I should have checked there) it doesn't have JAPAN on it. So I assume it's not made in Japan? It's going back either way.

The COO needs to be somewhere, either on the part or on the packaging. That's a consumer protection rule in the US. Maybe it doesn't apply to "industrial" parts like this though....

If you don't want to pull the transmission again in a year or two, it does.

If a parts store has (2) of the "same" part, one made in Japan and one made in China, I'm taking the Japanese one every single time.

Called Nachi and they said that bearing is now from China. Ended up getting one on Ebay from a seller that had some old stock.

They just don't get it do they........I'll pay more (within reason) for the preferred country of origin or old stock. Nasty jobs require good parts.
