Terrific! Did you hunt over dogs? Wild or pen raised? Wild pheasant are pretty much gone here in Maine - we're in Grouse and Woodcock territory. Hear great things about hunting the Dakotas (as your pic gives testament!)
Wow. You both must be good with a shotgun. My family lived near Mobridge, SD and would hunt in the cornfields. My grandmother would cook the birds and always warned be careful not to swallow any buckshot.
Great job & quality memories with your Son. I LUV pheasant on the rotisserie, dated a girl whos Dad raised them. Would take them over to his best friends property and release. We ate pheasant often. Not an easy bird to kill.

Yes there were 4 dogs and they really worked well. Some were wild and some were pen raised. There are quite a few wild non pen raised birds in South Dakota because of the habitat. You basically have to have a lot of cover, water, and food for them as well as not having a lot of farm chemicals. Good rains and mild winters help a lot too.
