Things you grew up eating as a kid - not much seen anymore

Liver & onions.
Beef tongue stew.
Kidney stew.
Neckbones & sauerkraut.

Our family had nine children, so there was always wild game and fish.

Salmon patties. I hated them. Stink up the house for a week !

Pasties are a rare treat now. I have to make them myself because the ones I can get at the local.pubs and taverns don't cut it. For a few years, I had pasties a few times a week when I was a kid. And no my parents didn't send me to work in the mines as a minor.

There is a place out here in Reno, Nv that is known for that- and still serve it.
They say it is a Basque specialty. (many Basque people settled in Nevada originally)
I do have O-negative blood. I have read the Basque people had a higher prevalence of that blood type.

I don't eat that anymore, out of concerns about prions.

Spaghettios
Fish sticks
Egg noodles, velveeta, ground beef and ketchup casserole
English muffin pizzas
Stuffed clams
London broil steak on the grill
Sloppy joes
Oscar meyer bologna and cheese sandwiches

I loved breakfast cereals into my 30's. Not necessarily the high-sugar ones like Froot Loops and the like (although those were a tasty treat), but I basically lived on cereals like Honey Nut Cheerios, Chex, Raisin Bran, Honey Bunches of Oats, and Life.

But now, in my 50's... ugh. I don't know if it's all the fiber or dairy or what, but a bowl of cereal, ANY cereal with milk in the morning will absolutely ruin my afternoon and evening.

One more thing in my life I can no longer enjoy. :(

The first I like to this day, just can’t afford it.

The second I don’t like to this day, likely can afford it.

As a kid both were garbage foods. So were wings and ox tail.

Mom was an excellent cook and baker and even good with quicky meals.

I've redone some of these myself:

1. Tuna on toast (roux, canned tuna, potato chips heated) covering toast (variation of chipped beef)

2. Chipped chop ham BBQ sandwiches: Anyone from the Pittsburgh area will know what I am talking about.

Things I should bring back: 1. scrapple for breakfast, 2. Her ability to bake fruit and other types of pies. etc.

My mother told me that if it's been in someone else's mouth I shouldn't put it in mine.
I like the way my college roommate put it…he said I just don’t like tasting something while it’s tasting me back..

Same roommate, asked him what’s inside the Flatiron Building? He said, “Irons.”
