My personal "battery longevity" record!

I have had a couple of AC Delco go 10 years. Still started fine but was acting slow when cold too. These were inside under the back seat which I do think helps keep them out of the extreme hot/cold as under the hood.

I don't think I replied to this thread. My car was mfg 10/06. It was Dec. 2011 and I had a "coupon" for a BMW OE battery replacement at $280, so I got it replaced. Dealer said why and I just said I want to do it proactively. They said OK but you don't need a new battery.

As I type it's August 2024. The battery from 12/11 is still installed. This isn't uncommon for at least the E9x. When I do replace the battery I'll let the dealer do it because my software "won't" register my battery. I guess it's because it's an early 2007. That's probably part of the ability to not overcharge it as it degrades. I'll be looking at the delta of lead acid vs. AGM, sometimes it's $100 or less. It's worth it to get the latter, because that requires coding in addition to programming. If I were to get the Costco battery, the Ah can't be exactly matched, but people say, "close enough."

Bet your alternator is taking a nice giant "sigh"* !!
You're probably alluding to the resistance of the battery climbing over time (v=ir). But I don't think so because the algorithm in conjunction with the IBS takes into account the age of the battery. Another example where OEM is cheaper than OE, I've said so many times wish Toyota were like that. $100 v. $320

I load tested my 2018 F150 2x last week @ 2 different shops. Still kicking a hair above advertised new CCA. Up until now this test, she was still kicking over 800 but dang was it ever extra hot this year. Be 6 years old in October. Now that it is starting to drop, I am hoping for another year, but doubt it.

That trickle charger 1-2x per month is what I attribute my battery success to. Been doing it for years.

If a battery doesn’t last 5 years for me I’m not very impressed. I often buy cheapo batteries and they last around 5 years on the dot.

Going to change mine because I have a short 15km commute to work, better safe than sorry. May even buy a more premium one just because.

The battery in my wife's '17 Civic is the original. 7 years but also only about 15k miles, so I'm torn about replacing it. Probably cheap insurance to do so, so I probably will.

Job done. Although I initially wanted to go BMW OE AGM battery , price difference between Costco interstate brand and BMW is some $250.
I pulled out OLD, flooded one, 90ah, 720CCA:

Just replaced the original battery in my 2018 Lexus rx350 last month. It was usable but slowing down and the dealer tested and said it was not going to make it another year so I replaced before winter.
