My 4.0L Jeep engine is very picky about oil. If I run Chevron, Havoline or Valvoline it will get 1 noisey lifter @ 1800 miles into my OCI.
I can't explain it either.
Pennzoil, QS,Warren and Shell PCMO will last 3k w/o it getting noisey.
Last time I used Rotella T5. I'm @ 1800 miles and that one lifter is clacking away! This one started clacking @ 1500 miles into the OCI.
I dug through my stash and dumped a qt on MMO into it 200 miles ago but so far I'm still clacking away.
It's not just a tick but a loud clack like the lifter is stuck bottomed out and I can feel it if I place my hand on the block near the #4 cyl.
I don't want to dump the T5 with only 1800 miles on it but I guarantee that if I do the clack will disapear. No sludge in this engine either.
Anybody care to try to explain this? Why exactly 1800 miles into my OCI every time?
