My girlfriend Keisha just purchased a 2007 300C with 170,000 miles. By examing the dipstick and noting the oil was dirty and a quart low I concluded that this car was not maintained well. What is the best method to clean a dirty hemi. Seafoam rislone marvel mystery oil hot shots?

I think i would change the oil and just use a standard synthetic. See what the oil consumption is for an oci, then go with the Valvoline restore and protect.

If you use the Restore and protect right off the bat, you won't know if any oil consumption is from the Valvoline Restore and Protect or does it use oil due to its mileage.

I agree with the above posters about Valvoline Restore and Protect, i would just get a baseline of oil consumption first.

Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w-30 could be too aggressive even for that. Mobil 1 0w-40 would be a good bet. Does some light cleaning.

Girlfriend? Live in or just Casual?

If its casual I would feign knowing nothing about cars and forget about it. If you touch it when it finally quits or clogs the cat or whatever, you don't want your name associated with it.
Keisha is a great amateur mechanic but bitog is a little over her head. Live in

If it's sludged and at that mileage might be the only thing holding it together.

Yeah I'd change the oil and monitor consumption, get to know the car for a few thousand miles and then come up with a plan.

Which engine is in it? Hope it's not the 2.7 - although they did get better in later years.

I wouldn't even mess with it if it's running OK. You're getting into "classic"/"antique" plate status in some states with how old it is and the high mileage. Just use whatever cheap oil you can get and leave it be. I've found once you start trying to flush and purge things then you cause problems later down the line when it comes to old stuff like this that was used for quite a while.

Thanks I think I will follow your advice
