My mazda3 is a 3i with a 2.0L engine. Here are the oil filters I've collected. They range from 4 to 6 dollars.
From left to right they are:
1. Ultra-8 Nippon Filter 361-2413
2. Ultra-8 Nippon Filter 361-1313
3. NAPA Gold 1348
4. Current Mazda OE LF05-14-302A
5. Toyota 90915-YZZD1
6. Toyota 90915-YZZD3
7. Current Motorcraft FL-400s
The current Mazda OE looks like Motorcraft FL-910 but with more thread on the center hole, which I like to have at least 4 threads. The current FL-400s has 3.5 threads.
90915-YZZD3 is currently on engine. I like the Toyota filter for (a) D3 is a longer version than the D1 (b) they all have round-cross-section O-rings. Conventional square-cross-section O-rings have shown some seepage in the past.
I like the OE, the NAPA Gold as well. Don't like the Ultra-8 filters because they have less/small holes on base plate. Did not like the FL-400s simply because it has only 3.5 threads on center hole. Otherwise, this is a perfect oversized filter.
