Multimeter questions

I measured it against Fluke 233. Both voltage and resistance were right on the dot i.e. all digits matched. There is about 3% error on the capacitance measurement.

I am quite thrilled with this little cheap gem.

About $30 gets you this...

I have a cheap HF one as well that I keep around the garage as a cheap throw away one. I usually use my Commerical ELectric or Klein.

That looks like a nice one! Do you own it? How fast does it settle on a reading? I liked the simulated linear analog scale at the bottom.

Do you have Fluke at your work place to do comparison? This would be an ideal multi-meter for hobbyist if it is accurate enough.

I do not. I compared AC voltage (measured my household voltage) of this Etekcity against the UniT clamp one. They were within 0.1V of each other. As for DC voltage (measured AA battery), Etekcity showed 1.531V while UniT showed 1.535V, so that's about 0.26% difference.

But of course that in itself doesn't guarantee accuracy since I don't know how accurate my UniT one is.

The only annoyance about this Etekcity meter so far is how they implemented the HOLD/LIGHT button. If you first press HOLD to store a reading and then press it again for 2 seconds to turn on the backlight, the HOLD will cancel. Dumb.

If you trust that little Adafruit board, it seems to be spot on:

did you manage to solder the standoffs on that Adafruit?

That is a great DMM with excellent accuracy!!
