I have TWO 50 foot hoses for my newer Simpson/Honda pressure washer. Both are OK. One is Clark Friggen Kent braided steel that is IMPOSSIBLE to deal with under pressure. Heck empty in the sun, it's still a huge pain. The other 50 footer is a Flexilla. It's not terrible to deal with, but I wonder how hardy it will be. Good thing it's stored in the shade, being a Flexilla.

I hardly ever (maybe 25% of PW use) do I need 50 feet. Most times, 15-25 feet easy.

Seems like I have lots of 1/4" choices and some that claim 3/8" that are really 1/4" (thanks China).

What recommendations do you fine tool folks have? TIA

Homeless Depot sells a Dewalt brand hose. It is pretty good. $99

The thing with PW hoses is that they can kink and let go. Some last weeks around here with the 4000PSI Honda 390 powered units. The better ones have tight braids and are stiff.

Put another way, trying to hold back 4000 psi with gaps in the braid is asking for a short lifespan. Use care and they will last longer. Lay the hose out flat.

Yes 👍 you really hit on why in the first place dealing with a 50 foot stainless hose is a pain. Because in tight areas I don’t even have the room to lay it out flat. And when pressurized forget about it!

MTM KobraJet. Worth every penny. It's the gold standard.

There's also nothing wrong with 1/4" hose at lengths below 100 feet. It will outflow your water supply (unless you're running a buffer tank) and pressure loss isn't that much.

I had never calculated it. Interesting and thanks

Only tangentially related, I've got a Flexzilla air hose and learned the hard way that if exposed to the spray of sparks from a grinder, they break down like a Stanford student witnessing someone being addressed by the wrong pronoun.

For the air hoses they sell proprietary repair kits. If the pressure washer hose is similar, I reco just stocking a repair coupler. They're not expensive, just not readily available at any old hardware store.

MTM products in general are best in class. I recently upgraded to their stainless lances nozzles and the MTM stuff is top notch.

I’m still using the STIHL orange hose I bought when the hose furnished with my PW failed. VERY happy with the STIHL hose.

I've had a Goodyear Neptune hose for probably 20 years+. Still great. Actually have 2, 1 is pretty worn through and showing steel in spots. I used the other when access was difficult. I used to do commercial business pressure washing so it has a ton of hours and dragging around on it.

Uh. No. Not enough supply out of my fake 3/8" (kinda 1/4", 7-8mm(?) ) hose to drive my surface cleaner. Hook up my USA 3/8" works like a champ.
