Some people buy such nonsense and attribute the product to increasing fuel economy. It wasn't the product, they started driving like there was an egg between their foot and the gas pedal.

Oh man.....this reminds me of a time in my teenage years.

My friend, use to work at a gasoline retailer here in STL, that is no longer around. It was called ________, __________ Texas Discount Gas. This was back in the pre-unleaded days.....just two flavors then both of the leaded variety. One night I was hanging out with him when a gas tank truck arrived to drop a load as we called it. The driver came in and had my friend sign some form, and then he proceeded to hook up the hoses to the ground taps. As I recall as best I can, after he completed the "leaded regular" off load he went to the cabin of the tractor truck and pulled a box from beneath the seat. Inside were large white tablets maybe half or 3/4 the size of a Frisbee toy. He then climbed the back of the trailer and opened two of the compartment lids on the top of the trailer, and dropped one tablet in each compartment. When I asked him about it he said that "it was an additive" to make the premium variety....or something like that.

To this day, I have often wondered what chemical(s) the tablets were made from......I surely have no idea. Have any of you ever witnessed something like this or similar to what I am describing, and if so, please do tell more about your experience. I worked in both Shell and Texaco stations when I was young, and never saw these same practices repeated when we had gas loads delivered.......so I am really curious about this "tablet additive" and the chemical magic that is supposedly possesed.

I pumped gas at Gulf stations and never heard of or saw that going on. Our Gulf gas was 45 cents at the time. I thought that was
too expensive!

Haha. Reminds me of back in the 80s when a company was selling premium power cords for your stereo to improve the sound.
Power cords? No. Speaker cables can and do make a difference. A quality cable can't improve sound quality, but it can degrade the signal less than a cheap one. That is assuming you have quality equipment and the ear to hear the difference.
