Best Injector cleaner With P.E.A. for the money?

I'm currently using a combination of Cleanpower and FTC Decarbonizer (they're marketed in the USA under the Maxodyne brand) rather than a PEA based injector cleaner. Despite not containing PEA, my vehicles seem to start easier and idle smoother. I'm also getting excellent gas mileage, however, that may be due to my awareness that gas is currently $8.35 a gallon.

Hello. It used to be a big deal to make sure you bought top tier gas. Now the latest trend is buying fuel injector cleaner with P.E.A. as its said to work much better chemically.

I've seen lots of evidence that P.E.A injector cleaners work, however not all of them can work equally and I'm sure one carrys more P.E.A than another.

So I've noticed that Stabil In season actually has P.E.A. but doesn't advertise how much (or maybe how little of it!)

Also seen several others. Is there any data to assist with a purchase of Injector cleaner that Contails P.E.A.?
Alright, I need to get on the ball with ordering some redline cleaner as I cannot get it locally. It has a high content of P.E.A.

What I did for now was bought a bottle of stabil In season. The stabil in season. It contains P.E.A. it's supposed to treat 50 gallons. I mixed it with mostly ethanol free fuel in the 13 gallon fuel tank of my rav4 for a 5 hour freeway drive it's doing. So its very concentrated the way I mixed it. Also only $8 for the bottle.

After this I will be purchasing the redline fuel additive. Appreciate all the comments on the thread and that chart for the concentration amounts of actual P.E.A. per product.

The Stabil has minimal PEA. Maybe only enough to take non top tier to top tier so effectively injector cleaning / keep clean. Only fuel system cleaners have enough PEA to go beyond injector cleaning.

Here's the data in a Google spreadsheet:

I posted this in the older original thread, thought I would add it here:

This is excellent but a little convenient that the BG product comes top of the BG test kit.

The original PEA research by Chevron tested different concentrations of PEA. They found (I am going by memory), that 3% was the optimal for clean up. They tested with higher concentrations (I believe up to double), and found no additional benefit.

Now that was a long time ago and all the fuel system cleaner manufacturers say they are constantly improving. So maybe these differences mean something but I wouldn't be so sure.

Personally I go with Gumout as it is specified for the same tank size at the lowest cost. And for me, it did perform a single tank deep clean which was verified when the second tank with the same product did not result in any further improvement.

Lastly, if the results are to be translated into real world performance differences, then BMW have apparently been supplied with a product twice as effective as VW. That seems like too much of a difference to say that these numbers are truly about effectiveness.

The recent Techron SDS says 45% to <50%

I think to be technical, the proprietary agent is 45-50%, and PEA is just a component of that. How much of it, no one knows for sure.

Well that is for product 266710 with an SDS date of Aug 7 2025.

The version sold at Walmart has a UPC of 023968387266 and Walmart's SDS finder says that is product 266701.

Both Walmart's SDS dated Aug 16 2024 and the latest SDS on Chevron's website dated Nov 5 2025, say that the same proprietary agent for that product code is a max of 20%.

Yeah I'm just saying that the PEA is buried within the proprietary compounds. So you don't really know what percentage of the percentage of proprietary compound is PEA.

An example is looking at the Yamalube Ring Free. It looks like low PEA from the SDS but you know it must have a lot with the clean up that it does. It's very aggressive.

It's just hard to know unless the specific compound is listed separately. Like PAO is listed on its own line on an SDS, so you have a real range for it for motor oils.

$25 for a 12 ounce bottle is a tough pill to swallow.

I haven't used Techron Concentrate in a long while as I was 'cheap' and kept buying Gumout Regane (US version with P.E.A.), it seemed to work; FF to a couple weeks ago where I 'splurged' buying RL SI-1 and I'm positive I felt difference in a couple of days driving. I think I'm gonna stick with RL SI-1 from now on.

Literally the same story here, figured Regane was “good enough” at $7/bottle. Switched to Redline and haven’t looked back.

(Well, I do alternate with Valvoline Restore and Protect Fuel System Cleaner since it’s a non-pea formula. Might as well get the benefit of each)
