Picked this up from a customer today who stopped by to pick up some chains that I had sharpened. It was on the trailer with its deck, next stop the scrapyard. It spoke to me and it was purchased for the price of the sharpening. Briggs flat opposed twin with a 1995 date code. It will be fun to resurrect.

I would think the old Briggs engine should not be a problem. I bet the deck will be your headace. What kind of drive unit is in it, some type of transaxle? Really does not look too bad considering the age.

We had a similar one, 14hp opposed twin Briggs and 46" deck when I was a kid. It was from the mid 1980s, but I believe that style went into the mid 1990s for the larger machines under several brands. They were pretty solid tractors before MTD really started making the box store cheap mowers.

Nice save! That would be a fun project for someone who has access to replacement parts and/or the ability to make their own.

It isn't hydrostatic. Peeking quickly underneath it looked to have a variator ahead of the transaxle. I'll have more time to look at it tomorrow. Oil level and cleanliness are acceptable.
